जब वह किनारे पर उतरा, तो उस नगर का एक मनुष्य उसे मिला, जिस में दुष्टात्माएं थीं और बहुत दिनों से न कपड़े पहिनता था और न घर में रहता था वरन कब्रों में रहा करता था।

King James Version (KJV): And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in [any] house, but in the tombs.

28वह यीशु को देखकर चिल्लाया, और उसके साम्हने गिरकर ऊंचे शब्द से कहा; हे परम प्रधान परमेश्वर के पुत्र यीशु, मुझे तुझ से क्या काम! मैं तेरी बिनती करता हूं, मुझे पीड़ा न दे!
29क्योंकि वह उस अशुद्ध आत्मा को उस मनुष्य में से निकलने की आज्ञा दे रहा था, इसलिये कि वह उस पर बार बार प्रबल होती थी; और यद्यपि लोग उसे सांकलों और बेडिय़ों से बांधते थे, तौभी वह बन्धनों को तोड़ डालता था, और दुष्टात्मा उसे जंगल में भगाये फिरती थी।
