देख, हम आज कल दास हैं; जो देश तू ने हमारे पितरों को दिया था कि उसकी उत्तम उपज खाएं, इसी में हम दास हैं।
Dekh, ham aaj kal daas haim; jo desh too ne hamaare pitarom ko diyaa thaa ki usakee uttam upaj khaaem, isee mem ham daas hain.

- 37इसकी उपज से उन राजाओं को जिन्हें तू ने हमारे पापों के कारण हमारे ऊपर ठहराया है, बहुत धन मिलता है; और वे हमारे शरीरों और हमारे पशुओं पर अपनी अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार प्रभुता जताते हैं, इसलिये हम बड़े संकट में पड़े हैं।
- 38इस सब के कारण, हम सच्चई के साथ वाचा बान्धते, और लिख भी देते हैं, और हमारे हाकिम, लेवीय और याजक उस पर छाप लगाते हैं।
