1. 24ಆದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಆ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳ ಬಳಲಿಹೋದರು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಸೌಲನು--ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ತೀರಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಸಾಯಂಕಾ ಲದ ವರೆಗೆ ಯಾವನು ಆಹಾರ ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಾನೋ ಅವನು ಶಪಿಸಲ್ಪಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟದ್ದರಿಂದ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಆಹಾರದ ರುಚಿ ನೋಡದೆ ಇದ್ದರು.
2. 25ದೇಶದ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರು ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ನೆಲದ ಮೇಲೆ ಜೇನು ತುಪ್ಪ ಇತ್ತು.
3. 26ಜನರು ಆ ಅಡವಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುವಾಗ ಇಗೋ, ಜೇನು ತುಪ್ಪ ಸುರಿಯುತ್ತಿತ್ತು; ಆದರೆ ಜನರು ಆ ಆಣೆಯ ನಿಮಿತ್ತ ಭಯಪಟ್ಟದ್ದ ರಿಂದ ಒಬ್ಬನಾದರೂ ತನ್ನ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಿಲ್ಲ.
4. 27ಆದರೆ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟದ್ದನ್ನು ಯೋನಾತಾನನು ಕೇಳದೆ ಇದ್ದ ಕಾರಣ ತನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕೋಲನ್ನು ಚಾಚಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಜೇನು ತೊಟ್ಟಿ ಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅದ್ದಿ ತನ್ನ ಬಾಯಿಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಅವನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಕಳೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದವು.
5. 28ಆಗ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ಆಹಾರ ತಿನ್ನುವವನು ಶಪಿಸಲ್ಪಡಲಿ ಎಂದು ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಜನರಿಗೆ ಕಟ್ಟುನಿಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಆಣೆ ಇಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಅದಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಜನರು ದಣಿದು ಹೋಗಿದ್ದಾರೆ ಅಂದನು.
