1. 1ಆದರೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ವಂಶದವನಾದ ಕೀಷನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನಿದ್ದನು. ಇವನು ಅಬೀಯೇಲನ ಮಗನು, ಇವನು ಚೆರೋರನ ಮಗನು, ಇವನು ಬೆಕೋರತನ ಮಗನು, ಇವನು ಅಫೀಹನ ಮಗನು ಇವನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯಾಗಿ ದ್ದನು.
2. 2ಇವನಿಗೆ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಯೌವನಸ್ಥ ನಾದ ಸೌಲನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸುಂದರನಾದ ಮಗನಿದ್ದನು. ಇಸ್ರಾ ಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನಿಗಿಂತ ಸೌಂದರ್ಯವುಳ್ಳವನು ಒಬ್ಬನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಜನರ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನ ಹೆಗಲೂ ತಲೆಯೂ ಕಾಣುವಷ್ಟು ಎತ್ತರವಾದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
3. 3ಸೌಲನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಕೀಷನ ಕತ್ತೆಗಳು ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಸೌಲ ನಿಗೆ--ನೀನೆದ್ದು ಕೆಲಸದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬನನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಕತ್ತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಲು ಹೋಗಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು.
4. 4ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಅವನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಬೆಟ್ಟವನ್ನೂ ಶಾಲೀಷಾ ದೇಶವನ್ನೂ ದಾಟಿಹೋದನು; ಆದರೆ ಅವು ಸಿಕ್ಕಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅವನು ಶಾಲೀಮ್‌ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ಹಾದುಹೋದನು; ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವುಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದವು. ಅವನು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ದೇಶವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ದರೂ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕಾಣದೆ ಹೋದನು.
