2. 38ಎಲೀಷನು ತಿರುಗಿ ಗಿಲ್ಗಾಲಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ದೇಶ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರ ಉಂಟಾಗಿತ್ತು. ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಅವನ ಮುಂದೆ ಕುಳಿತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸೇವಕನಿಗೆನೀನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಗಡಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಮೇಲಿಟ್ಟು ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ಬೇಯಿಸು ಅಂದನು.
3. 39ಒಬ್ಬನು ಪಲ್ಯವನ್ನು ತರಲು ಅಡವಿಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಡವಿಯ ಬಳ್ಳಿಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅಡವಿಯ ಕಾಯಿ ಗಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಉಡಿಯ ತುಂಬ ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೊಯಿದು ಆಹಾರವಿರುವ ಗಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವರು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಅರಿ ಯದೆ ಇದ್ದರು.
4. 40ಜನರಿಗೆ ಅದನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಡಿಸಿದರು. ಆಹಾರವನ್ನು ತಿನ್ನುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಏನಾಯಿ ತಂದರೆ, ಅವರು--ದೇವರ ಮನುಷ್ಯನೇ, ಗಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಷ ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿದರು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅದರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದದ್ದನ್ನು ಅವರು ತಿನ್ನಲಾರದೆ ಇದ್ದರು.
5. 41ಆಗ ಅವನು ಹಿಟ್ಟನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬರ ಹೇಳಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಗಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಜನರು ತಿನ್ನುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಬಡಿಸಿರಿ ಅಂದನು. ಆಗ ಆ ಗಡಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಟ್ಟದ್ದೇನೂ ಇರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
