ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಜನರು ಹೊರಟು ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಾದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಬಿದ್ದರು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನು ಸತ್ತನು.

- 18ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಯುದ್ಧದ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವಾಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--
- 19ನೀನು ಈ ಯುದ್ಧದ ವರ್ತಮಾನಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ತೀರಿಸಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕೋಪ ಉರಿದು--
