1. 17ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಜನರು ಹೊರಟು ಯೋವಾಬನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡುವಾಗ ದಾವೀದನ ಸೇವಕರಾದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರು ಬಿದ್ದರು; ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನು ಸತ್ತನು.
2. 18ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಯುದ್ಧದ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ದೂತನನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸುವಾಗ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--
3. 19ನೀನು ಈ ಯುದ್ಧದ ವರ್ತಮಾನಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ತೀರಿಸಿದ ತರುವಾಯ ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ಕೋಪ ಉರಿದು--
4. 20ನೀವು ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ಸವಿಾಪವಾಗಿ ಸೇರಿದ್ದೇನು?
5. 21ಅವರು ಗೋಡೆ ಯಿಂದ ಎಸೆಯುವರೆಂದು ನಿಮಗೆ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಯೆರುಬ್ಬೆಷೆತನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನು ಕೊಂದ ವರಾರು? ತೇಬೇಚಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ಹೆಂಗಸು ಗೋಡೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ಒಂದು ಬೀಸುವ ಕಲ್ಲಿನ ತುಂಡನ್ನು ಅವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಹಾಕಿದಾಗ ಅವನು ಸತ್ತನಲ್ಲವೇ? ನೀವು ಗೋಡೆಗೆ ಇಷ್ಟು ಸವಿಾಪವಾಗಿ ಹೋದದ್ದೇನು ಎಂದು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದರೆ ಆಗ ನೀನು--ನಿನ್ನ ಸೇವಕ ನಾದ ಊರೀಯನೆಂಬ ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನು ಸತ್ತನೆಂದು ಹೇಳು ಅಂದನು.
