ಕೂಷ್ಯನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದು ಓಡಿಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಚಾದೋಕನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹೀಮಾಚನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಕೂಷ್ಯನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಗಾದರೂ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನಗೆ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ನೀನು ಓಡುವದು ಯಾಕೆ ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು ಹೇಗಾ ದರೂ ಓಡಿಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದಾಗ ಓಡು ಅಂದನು.

Kooshyanu yovaabanige addabiddu odihodanu. Aaga chaadokana maganaada aheemaachanu yovaabanige--naanu kooshyana hinde odihoguva haage hegaadaroo appane kodabeku andanu. Adakke yovaabanu--nanna magane, ninage vartamaana illadiruvaaga neenu oduvadu yaake andanu. Avanu hegaa daroo odihoguttene andaaga odu andanu.

20ಯೋವಾಬನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಬೇಡ; ಮತ್ತೊಂದು ದಿವಸ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ ಬಹುದು. ಅರಸನ ಮಗನು ಸತ್ತದ್ದರಿಂದ ಈ ಹೊತ್ತು ನೀನು ವರ್ತಮಾನ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗ ಬೇಡ ಅಂದನು.
21ಯೋವಾಬನು ಕೂಷ್ಯನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ಹೋಗಿ ನೋಡಿದ್ದನ್ನು ಅರಸನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸು ಅಂದನು.
22ಕೂಷ್ಯನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದು ಓಡಿಹೋದನು. ಆಗ ಚಾದೋಕನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಹೀಮಾಚನು ಯೋವಾಬನಿಗೆ--ನಾನು ಕೂಷ್ಯನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಓಡಿಹೋಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಗಾದರೂ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆ ಕೊಡಬೇಕು ಅಂದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೋವಾಬನು--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನಿನಗೆ ವರ್ತಮಾನ ಇಲ್ಲದಿರುವಾಗ ನೀನು ಓಡುವದು ಯಾಕೆ ಅಂದನು. ಅವನು ಹೇಗಾ ದರೂ ಓಡಿಹೋಗುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದಾಗ ಓಡು ಅಂದನು.
23ಆಗ ಅಹೀಮಾಚನು ಬೈಲು ಮಾರ್ಗವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿ ಕೂಷ್ಯನನ್ನು ದಾಟಿಹೋದನು.
24ಆದರೆ ದಾವೀದನು ಎರಡು ಬಾಗಲುಗಳ ಮಧ್ಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಕುಳಿತಿದ್ದನು. ಕಾವಲುಗಾರನು ಗೋಪುರದ ಮಾಳಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರಿ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ ಇಗೋ, ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಒಂಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಓಡಿ ಬರು ತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.
