ಆದ ದರಿಂದ ಜನರು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಅವಮಾನ ಪಟ್ಟು ಕಳ್ಳತನವಾಗಿ ಬರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳ್ಳತನವಾಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದರು.

- 2ಆ ದಿನ ಆ ಜಯವು ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರಿಗೂ ದುಃಖವಾಯಿತು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅರಸನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗನಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ವ್ಯಥೆ ಪಡುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ಜನರು ಕೇಳಿದರು.
- 3ಆದ ದರಿಂದ ಜನರು ಯುದ್ಧದಲ್ಲಿ ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ಅವಮಾನ ಪಟ್ಟು ಕಳ್ಳತನವಾಗಿ ಬರುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಳ್ಳತನವಾಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದೊಳಗೆ ಬಂದರು.
- 4ಆದರೆ ಅರಸನು ಮೋರೆಯನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿಕೊಂಡು ಮಹಾ ಶಬ್ದ ದಿಂದ--ನನ್ನ ಮಗನಾದ ಅಬ್ಷಾಲೋಮನೇ, ಅಬ್ಷಾ ಲೋಮನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮಗನೇ ಎಂದು ಗೋಳಾಡಿದನು.
- 5ಆಗ ಯೋವಾಬನು ಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಅರಸನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ಅವನಿಗೆ--
