ಇವನ ತರುವಾಯ ಹರಾರ್ಯನಾಗಿರುವ ಆಗೇಯನ ಮಗನಾದ ಶಮ್ಮ. ಅಲಸಂದಿಯಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದ ಹೊಲ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ದಂಡಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿ ಬಂದಾಗ ಜನರು ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ಮುಂದೆ ಓಡಿಹೋದರು.

- 10ಇವನು ಎದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಕೈ ದಣಿದು ಕತ್ತಿಗೆ ಹತ್ತಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ವರೆಗೂ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದುಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಆ ದಿನ ಕರ್ತನು ದೊಡ್ಡ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಜನರು ಸುಲು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಮಾತ್ರ ಅವನ ಹಿಂದೆ ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿದರು.

- 12ಆದರೆ ಅವನು ಆ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡಿ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದುಬಿಟ್ಟನು. ಹೀಗೆ ಕರ್ತನು ದೊಡ್ಡರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನುಂಟು ಮಾಡಿದನು.
- 13ಮೂವತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಮುಖ್ಯಸ್ಥರಲ್ಲಿ ಆ ಮೂರು ಮಂದಿ ಹೊರಟು ಸುಗ್ಗಿಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅದುಲ್ಲಾಮ್‌ ಗವಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ದಾವೀದನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು; ಆಗ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರ ದಂಡು ರೆಫಾಯಾಮ್‌ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳಿ ದಿತ್ತು.
