ಅವರು ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ನೀರಿನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಕಂಚುಕಿಯು--ಅಗೋ, ನೀರು; ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿ ಏನು ಅಂದನು.

- 37ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪನು--ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯಪೂರ್ವಕವಾಗಿ ನಂಬುವದಾದರೆ ಆಗ ಬಹುದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯು ತ್ತರವಾಗಿ--ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನನ್ನು ದೇವಕುಮಾರನೆಂದು ನಾನು ನಂಬುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ
- 38ರಥವನ್ನು ನಿಲ್ಲಿ ಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಆಗ ಅವರಿಬ್ಬರೂ ಅಂದರೆ ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪನೂ ಕಂಚುಕಿಯೂ ನೀರಿನೊಳಗೆ ಇಳಿದರು; ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪನು ಕಂಚುಕಿಗೆ ಬಾಪ್ತಿಸ್ಮ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
