ಗೆರಾರಿನ ಮಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸುವವರು --ಈ ನೀರು ನಮ್ಮದು ಎಂದು ಇಸಾಕನ ಮಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸುವವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಜಗಳವಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಜಗಳವಾಡಿದ ಕಾರಣ ಅವನು ಆ ಬಾವಿಗೆ ಏಸೆಕ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.

- 18ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇಸಾಕನು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾ ಮನ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗಿದಂಥ ಬಾವಿಗಳನ್ನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಅಗಿದನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನು ಸತ್ತ ಮೇಲೆ ಫಿಲಿಷ್ಟಿಯರು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚಿದ್ದರು. ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯು ಕೊಟ್ಟ ಹೆಸರುಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರವೇ ಅವನು ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಹೆಸರು ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
- 19ಇಸಾಕನ ಸೇವಕರು ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅಗಿದಾಗ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಉಕ್ಕುವ ಒರತೆಯ ಬಾವಿಯು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿತು.

- 22ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಅವನು ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿ ಇನ್ನೊಂದು ಬಾವಿಯನ್ನು ಅಗಿದಾಗ ಅದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅವರು ಜಗಳವಾಡಲಿಲ್ಲ. ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವನು--ಈಗ ಕರ್ತನು ನಮಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ನಾವು ಈ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಭಿವೃದ್ಧಿ ಯಾಗುವೆವು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ರೆಹೋಬೋತ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟನು.
