ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದಾಗ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಉರುಳಿಸಿ ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸಿ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

1ತರುವಾಯ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಿ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಜನರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು.
2ಅವನು ಕಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಬಾವಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಇಗೋ, ಅದರ ಸವಿಾಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಕುರಿಗಳ ಮಂದೆಗಳು ಮಲಗಿದ್ದವು. ಆ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಮಂದೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಕುಡಿಸು ತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದುದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಲ್ಲು ಇತ್ತು.
3ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದಾಗ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಉರುಳಿಸಿ ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸಿ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
4ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವರು ಅಂದಾಗ ಅವರು--ನಾವು ಖಾರಾನಿನವರು ಅಂದರು.
5ಅದಕ್ಕ ವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಾಹೋರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಲಾಬಾನ ನನ್ನು ನೀವು ಬಲ್ಲಿರೋ ಅಂದಾಗ ಅವರು-- ನಾವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಲ್ಲೆವು ಅಂದರು.
