ತರುವಾಯ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಪ್ರಯಾಣ ಮಾಡಿ ಪೂರ್ವದಿಕ್ಕಿನ ಜನರ ದೇಶಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದನು.
Then Jacob went on his journey, and came into the land of the people of the east.
ಅವನು ಕಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಬಾವಿ ಇತ್ತು. ಇಗೋ, ಅದರ ಸವಿಾಪದಲ್ಲಿ ಮೂರು ಕುರಿಗಳ ಮಂದೆಗಳು ಮಲಗಿದ್ದವು. ಆ ಬಾವಿಯ ನೀರನ್ನು ಮಂದೆಗಳಿಗೆ ಅವರು ಕುಡಿಸು ತ್ತಿದ್ದರು. ಆ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ಒಂದುದೊಡ್ಡ ಕಲ್ಲು ಇತ್ತು.
And he looked, and behold a well in the field, and, lo, there [were] three flocks of sheep lying by it; for out of that well they watered the flocks: and a great stone [was] upon the well’s mouth.
ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿಸಿದಾಗ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಉರುಳಿಸಿ ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸಿ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಮತ್ತೆ ಅದರ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
And thither were all the flocks gathered: and they rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep, and put the stone again upon the well’s mouth in his place.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರರೇ, ನೀವು ಎಲ್ಲಿಯವರು ಅಂದಾಗ ಅವರು--ನಾವು ಖಾರಾನಿನವರು ಅಂದರು.
And Jacob said unto them, My brethren, whence [be] ye? And they said, Of Haran [are] we.
ಅದಕ್ಕ ವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ನಾಹೋರನ ಮಗನಾದ ಲಾಬಾನ ನನ್ನು ನೀವು ಬಲ್ಲಿರೋ ಅಂದಾಗ ಅವರು-- ನಾವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಬಲ್ಲೆವು ಅಂದರು.
And he said unto them, Know ye Laban the son of Nahor? And they said, We know [him].
ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಅವನು ಕ್ಷೇಮವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೋ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿ ದಾಗ ಅವರು--ಕ್ಷೇಮವಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ. ಇಗೋ, ಅವನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಲಳು ಕುರಿಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರುತ್ತಾಳೆ ಅಂದರು.
And he said unto them, [Is] he well? And they said, [He is] well: and, behold, Rachel his daughter cometh with the sheep.
ಅವನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ಇನ್ನೂ ಹೊತ್ತು ಬಹಳವಿದೆ; ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸುವ ಸಮಯವು ಇದಲ್ಲ; ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರು ಕುಡಿಸಿ ಹೋಗಿ ಮೇಯಿಸಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
And he said, Lo, [it is] yet high day, neither [is it] time that the cattle should be gathered together: water ye the sheep, and go [and] feed [them].
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಅವರು--ಮಂದೆಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಒಟ್ಟುಗೂಡಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿರುವ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಮುಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಆಗ ನಾವು ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸುತ್ತೇವೆ ಅಂದರು.
And they said, We cannot, until all the flocks be gathered together, and [till] they roll the stone from the well’s mouth; then we water the sheep.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡು ತ್ತಿದ್ದಾಗ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನು ಮೇಯಿಸುವವಳಾಗಿದ್ದ ರಾಹೇ ಲಳು ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯ ಕುರಿಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಂದಳು.
And while he yet spake with them, Rachel came with her father’s sheep: for she kept them.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಲಾಬಾನನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಲಳನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಕುರಿಗಳನ್ನೂ ನೋಡಿದಾಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಹತ್ತಿರ ಬಂದು ಬಾವಿಯ ಮೇಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲನ್ನು ಹೊರಳಿಸಿ ತನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯ ಸಹೋದರನಾದ ಲಾಬಾನನ ಕುರಿಗಳಿಗೆ ನೀರನ್ನು ಕುಡಿಸಿದನು.
And it came to pass, when Jacob saw Rachel the daughter of Laban his mother’s brother, and the sheep of Laban his mother’s brother, that Jacob went near, and rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother’s brother.
ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋ ಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೆ ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟು ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವರವನ್ನೆತ್ತಿ ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಅತ್ತನು.
And Jacob kissed Rachel, and lifted up his voice, and wept.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೆ ತಾನು ಆಕೆಯ ತಂದೆಗೆ ಸೋದರಳಿಯನೆಂದೂ ರೆಬೆಕ್ಕಳ ಮಗನೆಂದೂ ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಆಕೆಯು ಓಡಿಹೋಗಿ ತನ್ನ ತಂದೆಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿದಳು.
And Jacob told Rachel that he [was] her father’s brother, and that he [was] Rebekah’s son: and she ran and told her father.
ಲಾಬಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರಿಯ ಮಗನಾದ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ಸುದ್ದಿಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನನ್ನು ಸಂಧಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿಬಂದು ಅವನನ್ನು ಅಪ್ಪಿಕೊಂಡು ಮುದ್ದಿಟ್ಟನು. ಅವನನ್ನು ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದನು. ಅವನು ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ ಎಲ್ಲಾ ವಿಷಯಗಳನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದನು.
And it came to pass, when Laban heard the tidings of Jacob his sister’s son, that he ran to meet him, and embraced him, and kissed him, and brought him to his house. And he told Laban all these things.
ಆಗ ಲಾಬಾನನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಎಲುಬೂ ಮಾಂಸವೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದೀ ಅಂದನು. ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಒಂದು ತಿಂಗಳು ವಾಸವಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
And Laban said to him, Surely thou [art] my bone and my flesh. And he abode with him the space of a month.
ತರುವಾಯ ಲಾಬಾನನು ಯಾಕೋಬನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನನ್ನ ಸಹೋದರ ಸಂಬಂಧಿಯಾಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಸುಮ್ಮನೆ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸತಕ್ಕದ್ದೋ? ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂಬಳ ಎಷ್ಟೆಂಬದನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಹೇಳು ಅಂದನು.
And Laban said unto Jacob, Because thou [art] my brother, shouldest thou therefore serve me for nought? tell me, what [shall] thy wages [be]?
ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಕುಮಾರ್ತೆಯರಿದ್ದರು. ಹಿರಿಯಳ ಹೆಸರು ಲೇಯಳು, ಕಿರಿಯಳ ಹೆಸರು ರಾಹೇಲಳು.
And Laban had two daughters: the name of the elder [was] Leah, and the name of the younger [was] Rachel.
ಲೇಯಳ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ಮೃದುವಾಗಿದ್ದವು; ಆದರೆ ರಾಹೇಲಳು ಬಹು ಸುಂದರಿಯೂ ರೂಪವತಿಯೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಳು.
Leah [was] tender eyed; but Rachel was beautiful and well favoured.
ಹೀಗಿರುವದರಿಂದ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿ--ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನ ಕಿರಿಮಗಳಾಗಿರುವ ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಏಳು ವರುಷ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.
And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter.
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಲಾಬಾನನು--ಅವಳನ್ನು ಬೇರೊಬ್ಬನಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುವದು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯದು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ವಾಸವಾಗಿರು ಅಂದನು.
And Laban said, [It is] better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me.
ಈ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯಾಕೋ ಬನು ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಏಳು ವರುಷ ಸೇವೆ ಮಾಡಿದನು. ಅವನು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಏಳು ವರುಷಗಳು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸ್ವಲ್ಪ ದಿನಗಳಾಗಿ ತೋರಿದವು.
And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him [but] a few days, for the love he had to her.
ತರುವಾಯ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ--ನನ್ನ ದಿನಗಳು ಪೂರ್ತಿಯಾದವು; ನಾನು ನನ್ನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಆಕೆಯನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಡು ಅಂದನು.
And Jacob said unto Laban, Give [me] my wife, for my days are fulfilled, that I may go in unto her.
ಆಗ ಲಾಬಾನನು ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಔತಣವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು.
And Laban gathered together all the men of the place, and made a feast.
ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಲೇಯಳನ್ನು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರೆತಂದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಆಕೆಯ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದನು.
And it came to pass in the evening, that he took Leah his daughter, and brought her to him; and he went in unto her.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಲಾಬಾನನು ತನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯಾದ ಜಿಲ್ಪಾಳನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಲೇಯಳಿಗೆ ದಾಸಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Laban gave unto his daughter Leah Zilpah his maid [for] an handmaid.
ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ನೋಡಲಾಗಿ ಆಕೆಯು ಲೇಯಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ಲಾಬಾನನಿಗೆ--ಇದೇನು ನೀನು ನನಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದಿ? ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ನಾನು ನಿನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಿದೆನಲ್ಲಾ? ಯಾಕೆ ನನಗೆ ಮೋಸಮಾಡಿದಿ ಅಂದನು.
And it came to pass, that in the morning, behold, it [was] Leah: and he said to Laban, What [is] this thou hast done unto me? did not I serve with thee for Rachel? wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಲಾಬಾನನು--ಹಿರಿಯಳಿಗಿಂತ ಮುಂಚೆ ಕಿರಿಯಳನ್ನು ಕೊಡುವದು ನಮ್ಮ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲ.
And Laban said, It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn.
ಈಕೆಯ ವಾರವನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸು. ತರುವಾಯ ನೀನು ನನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ಬೇರೆ ಏಳು ವರುಷಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಿದರೆ ನಾವು ಆಕೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡು ತ್ತೇವೆ ಅಂದನು.
Fulfil her week, and we will give thee this also for the service which thou shalt serve with me yet seven other years.
ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಅದರಂತೆ ಮಾಡಿ ಅವಳ ವಾರವನ್ನು ಪೂರೈಸಿದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಳಲನ್ನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೆಂಡತಿ ಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Jacob did so, and fulfilled her week: and he gave him Rachel his daughter to wife also.
ಲಾಬಾನನು ತನ್ನ ಮಗಳಾದ ರಾಹೇಲಳಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ದಾಸಿಯಾದ ಬಿಲ್ಹಳನ್ನು ದಾಸಿ ಯಾಗಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು.
And Laban gave to Rachel his daughter Bilhah his handmaid to be her maid.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವನು ರಾಹೇಲಳ ಬಳಿಗೂ ಬಂದು ಲೇಯಳಿಗಿಂತ ರಾಹೇಲಳನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿ ಇನ್ನೂ ಏಳು ವರುಷ ಅವನ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇವೆಮಾಡಿದನು.
And he went in also unto Rachel, and he loved also Rachel more than Leah, and served with him yet seven other years.
ಲೇಯಳು ತಾತ್ಸಾರವಾದಳೆಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ನೋಡಿ ಅವಳ ಗರ್ಭವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದನು. ಆದರೆ ರಾಹೇಲಳು ಬಂಜೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದಳು.
And when the LORD saw that Leah [was] hated, he opened her womb: but Rachel [was] barren.
ಲೇಯಳು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿ ಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು--ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಕರ್ತನು ನನ್ನ ಬಾಧೆಯನ್ನು ನೋಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ; ಆದದರಿಂದ ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡುವನೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿ (ಮಗುವಿಗೆ) ರೂಬೇನ್‌ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು.
And Leah conceived, and bare a son, and she called his name Reuben: for she said, Surely the LORD hath looked upon my affliction; now therefore my husband will love me.
ಮತ್ತೆ ಆಕೆಯು ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು--ನಾನು ತಾತ್ಸಾರ ಮಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟೆನೆಂದು ಕರ್ತನು ಕೇಳಿ ಇವನನ್ನು ನನಗೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸಿಮೆಯೋನ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು.
And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Because the LORD hath heard that I [was] hated, he hath therefore given me this [son] also: and she called his name Simeon.
ತಿರಿಗಿ ಆಕೆಯು ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು ಈಗಲಾದರೂ ನನ್ನ ಗಂಡನು ನನ್ನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಒಂದಾಗುವನು. ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ನಾನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಮೂರು ಪುತ್ರರನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತಿದ್ದೇನೆ; ಆದದರಿಂದ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಲೇವಿ ಎಂದು ಕರೆದಳು.ಆಕೆಯು ಮತ್ತೆ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು--ಈಗ ನಾನು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೂದನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು. ಆಕೆಯು ಹೆರುವದು ನಿಂತುಹೋಯಿತು.
And she conceived again, and bare a son; and said, Now this time will my husband be joined unto me, because I have born him three sons: therefore was his name called Levi.
ಆಕೆಯು ಮತ್ತೆ ಗರ್ಭಿಣಿಯಾಗಿ ಮಗನನ್ನು ಹೆತ್ತು--ಈಗ ನಾನು ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ಸ್ತುತಿಸುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಯೆಹೂದನೆಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟಳು. ಆಕೆಯು ಹೆರುವದು ನಿಂತುಹೋಯಿತು.
And she conceived again, and bare a son: and she said, Now will I praise the LORD: therefore she called his name Judah; and left bearing.
