1. 21ಹೀಗೆ ಆ ಕಾಣಿಕೆಯು ಅವನ ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಯಿತು. ತಾನಾದರೋ ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡನು.
2. 22ಅವನು ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಎದ್ದು ತನ್ನ ಇಬ್ಬರು ಹೆಂಡತಿಯರನ್ನೂ ಇಬ್ಬರು ದಾಸಿಯರನ್ನೂ ತನ್ನ ಹನ್ನೊಂದು ಮಂದಿ ಕುಮಾರರನ್ನೂ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಯಬ್ಬೋಕ್‌ ಎಂಬ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ದಾಟಿದನು.
3. 23ಅವನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರಕೊಂಡು ಹೊಳೆ ದಾಟಿಸಿದ್ದಲ್ಲದೆ ತನಗಿದ್ದದ್ದನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ದಾಟಿಸಿದನು.
4. 24ಆಗ ಯಾಕೋಬನು ಒಬ್ಬನೇ ಉಳಿದಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಉದಯ ವಾಗುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋರಾಡಿದನು.
5. 25ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ಅವನನ್ನು ಜಯಿಸದೆ ಇರುವದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅವನ ತೊಡೆಯ ಕೀಲನ್ನು ಮುಟ್ಟಿದನು. ಅವನು ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಆತನ ಸಂಗಡ ಹೋರಾಡುವಲ್ಲಿ ಯಾಕೋಬನ ತೊಡೆಯ ಕೀಲು ತಪ್ಪಿತು.
