ಆದದರಿಂದ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ--ಈತನು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದರು.

Aadadarinda janaralli anekaru ee maatannu kelidaaga--eetanu nijavaagiyoo aa pravaadi yaagiddaane andaru.

38ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಇಡುವವನಿಗೆ ಬರಹವು ಹೇಳಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಆತನ ಹೊಟ್ಟೆಯೊಳಗಿಂದ ಜೀವ ಕರವಾದ ನೀರಿನ ಹೊಳೆಗಳು ಹರಿಯುವವು ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳಿದನು.
39(ಆದರೆ ಆತನು ತನ್ನಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ವಾಸವಿಡುವವರು ಹೊಂದಲಿರುವ ಆತ್ಮನನ್ನು ಕುರಿತು ಇದನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಯೇಸು ಇನ್ನೂ ಮಹಿಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲವಾದ್ದರಿಂದ ಪವಿತ್ರಾ ತ್ಮನು ಇನ್ನೂ ಕೊಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.)
40ಆದದರಿಂದ ಜನರಲ್ಲಿ ಅನೇಕರು ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ--ಈತನು ನಿಜವಾಗಿಯೂ ಆ ಪ್ರವಾದಿ ಯಾಗಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದರು.
41ಬೇರೆಯವರು--ಈತನೇ ಆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ಅಂದರು. ಆದರೆ ಕೆಲವರು--ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ಗಲಿಲಾಯದಿಂದ ಬರುವನೋ?
42ಆದರೆ ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನು ದಾವೀದನ ಸಂತಾನದಿಂದಲೂ ದಾವೀದನಿದ್ದ ಬೇತೆಹೇಮೆಂಬ ಊರಿನಿಂದಲೂ ಬರುವನೆಂದು ಬರಹವು ಹೇಳುತ್ತದಲ್ಲವೇ? ಅಂದರು.
