ಕರ್ತನು ಅಮೋರಿಯರನ್ನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಡುವ ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆಹೋ ಶುವನು ಕರ್ತನ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಾತನಾಡಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮುಂದೆ--ಸೂರ್ಯನೇ, ನೀನು ಗಿಬ್ಯೋನಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಚಂದ್ರನೇ, ನೀನು ಅಯ್ಯಾಲೋನ್‌ ತಗ್ಗಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ನೆಲೆಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿರು ಅಂದನು.

- 13ಆದದರಿಂದ ಜನಾಂಗವು ತಮ್ಮ ಶತ್ರುಗಳಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿ ಮಾಡುವ ವರೆಗೆ ಸೂರ್ಯ ಚಂದ್ರರು ನೆಲೆಯಾಗಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದರು. ಇದು ಯಾಷಾರಿನ ಪುಸ್ತಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬರೆದಿರ ಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ? ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಸೂರ್ಯನು ಅಸ್ತಮಿಸಲು ತ್ವರೆಮಾಡದೆ ಹೆಚ್ಚುಕಡಿಮೆ ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಪೂರ್ತಿ ಆಕಾಶದ ಮಧ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತಿದ್ದನು.
- 14ಕರ್ತನು ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಂಥಾ ಆ ದಿನಕ್ಕೆ ಸಮಾನ ವಾದ ದಿನವು ಪೂರ್ವದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ, ಮುಂದೆಯೂ ಇಲ್ಲ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಕರ್ತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದನು.
