ಆಗ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಲು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುದ್ಧಸ್ಥರೂ ಎದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾದ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆದುಕೊಂಡು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.

- 1ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನಿಗೆ--ಭಯಪಡಬೇಡ, ನಿರುತ್ಸಾಹಗೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ. ನೀನು ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುದ್ಧಸ್ಥರಾದ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಎದ್ದು ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗು. ನೋಡು, ನಾನು ಆಯಿಯ ಅರಸನನ್ನೂ ಅವನ ಜನವನ್ನೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣ ವನ್ನೂ ಸೀಮೆಯನ್ನೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
- 2ನೀನು ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿಗೂ ಅದರ ಅರಸನಿಗೂ ಯಾವ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡಿದಿಯೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಆಯಿಗೂ ಅದರ ಅರಸನಿಗೂ ಮಾಡಬೇಕು. ಅದರ ಕೊಳ್ಳೆಯನ್ನೂ ಪಶುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಮಾತ್ರವೇ ನಿಮಗೋಸ್ಕರ ಸುಲು ಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ. ನೀವು ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹಿಂಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಆಸರೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
- 3ಆಗ ಆಯಿಗೆ ಏರಿ ಹೋಗಲು ಯೆಹೋಶುವನೂ ಸಮಸ್ತ ಯುದ್ಧಸ್ಥರೂ ಎದ್ದರು. ಆದರೆ ಯೆಹೋಶುವನು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಗಳಾದ ಮೂವತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಆದುಕೊಂಡು ರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದನು.
- 4ಅವರಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿ--ಇಗೋ, ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಹಿಂದೆ ನೀವು ಹೊಂಚಿಕೊಂಡಿರ್ರಿ; ಪಟ್ಟಣಕ್ಕೆ ಬಹುದೂರ ಹೋಗಬೇಡಿರಿ; ನೀವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಸಿದ್ಧವಾಗಿರ್ರಿ.
- 5ಆದರೆ ನಾನೂ ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇರುವ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಸವಿಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರುವೆವು; ಆಗ ಆಗುವದೇನಂದರೆ, ಅವರು ಮುಂಚಿನ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ನಮಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಬರುವಾಗ ಅವರ ಮುಂದೆ ನಾವು ಓಡಿ ಹೋಗುವೆವು.
