ಅವರು ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು.

- 4ಯೂದನು ಹೋದಾಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರು.
- 5ಅವರು ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು.
- 6ಆದರೆ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನು ಓಡಿಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವನ ಕೈಕಾಲುಗಳ ಹೆಬ್ಬೆರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಹಾಕಿ ದರು.
- 7ಆಗ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನು--ನಾನು ಕೈಕಾಲು ಗಳ ಹೆಬ್ಬೆರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸುಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಜಿನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಆಹಾರ ವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿದರು; ನಾನು ಹೇಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆನೋ ಹಾಗಾಯೇ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಅವನನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು; ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತನು.
