1. 4ಯೂದನು ಹೋದಾಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇವರು ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಹತ್ತು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರನ್ನು ಕೊಂದರು.
2. 5ಅವರು ಬೆಜೆಕಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಅವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನೂ ಪೆರಿಜ್ಜೀಯರನ್ನೂ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು.
3. 6ಆದರೆ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನು ಓಡಿಹೋದದರಿಂದ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಂದಟ್ಟಿ ಹಿಡಿದು ಅವನ ಕೈಕಾಲುಗಳ ಹೆಬ್ಬೆರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿ ಹಾಕಿ ದರು.
4. 7ಆಗ ಅದೋನೀಬೆಜೆಕನು--ನಾನು ಕೈಕಾಲು ಗಳ ಹೆಬ್ಬೆರಳುಗಳನ್ನು ಕತ್ತರಿಸಿದ ಎಪ್ಪತ್ತು ಮಂದಿ ಅರಸುಗಳು ನನ್ನ ಮೇಜಿನ ಕೆಳಗೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಆಹಾರ ವನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿದರು; ನಾನು ಹೇಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದೆನೋ ಹಾಗಾಯೇ ದೇವರು ನನಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಗೆ ಮುಯ್ಯಿಮಾಡಿದ್ದಾನೆ ಅಂದನು. ಅವನನ್ನು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದರು; ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಸತ್ತನು.
5. 8ಯೂದನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಬೆಂಕಿಯಿಂದ ಸುಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
