ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರ ಮುಂದುಗಡೆ ಇರುವ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ರೇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದರು. ಆಗ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ--ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಬಂದು--ದಾಟುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ; ಗಿಲ್ಯಾ ದ್ಯರು--ನೀನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯನೋ? ಎಂದು ಅವ ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು--ಅಲ್ಲ ಅಂದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ನೀವು--ಷಿಬ್ಬೋಲೆತ್‌ ಅನ್ನಬೇಕು ಅಂದರು.

Gilyaadyaru ephraayaamyara mundugade iruva yordanina revugalannu hididaru. Aaga enaayitandare--ephraayaamyaralli tappisikonda yaavanaadaroo bandu--daatuttene endu helidare; gilyaa dyaru--neenu ephraayaamyano? Endu ava nannu kelidaaga avanu--alla andare avanige neevu--shibbolet annabeku andaru.

3ನೀವು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವದಿ ಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನಾನು ಕಂಡು ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಿಡುಕೊಂಡು ಅಮ್ಮೋನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಹೋದೆನು; ಕರ್ತನು ಅವರನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿ ಕೊಟ್ಟನು. ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಈಹೊತ್ತು ನನಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಯಾಕೆ ಬಂದಿರಿ ಅಂದನು.
4ಆಗ ಯೆಪ್ತಾಹನು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್‌ ಜನರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕೂಡಿಸಿ ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧ ಮಾಡಿ ದನು. ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರಾದ ನೀವು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್‌ ಮನಸ್ಸೆ ಯವರೊಳಗಿಂದ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರು ಎಂದು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದರು.
5ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯರು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರ ಮುಂದುಗಡೆ ಇರುವ ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ರೇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದರು. ಆಗ ಏನಾಯಿತಂದರೆ--ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ತಪ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಬಂದು--ದಾಟುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದರೆ; ಗಿಲ್ಯಾ ದ್ಯರು--ನೀನು ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯನೋ? ಎಂದು ಅವ ನನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದಾಗ ಅವನು--ಅಲ್ಲ ಅಂದರೆ ಅವನಿಗೆ ನೀವು--ಷಿಬ್ಬೋಲೆತ್‌ ಅನ್ನಬೇಕು ಅಂದರು.
6ಆಗ ಅವನು ಹಾಗೆ ಹೇಳಲಾರದೆ ಸಿಬ್ಬೋಲೆತ್‌ ಅನ್ನುವನು. ಆಗ ಅವನನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಯೊರ್ದನಿನ ರೇವುಗಳ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದುಹಾಕಿದರು. ಹೀಗೆ ಆ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಎಫ್ರಾಯಾಮ್ಯರೊಳಗೆ ನಾಲ್ವತ್ತೆರಡು ಸಾವಿರ ಜನರು ಸತ್ತುಹೋದರು.
7ಯೆಪ್ತಾಹನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಆರು ವರುಷ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸಿದನು. ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್ಯನಾದ ಯೆಪ್ತಾಹನು ಸತ್ತು ಗಿಲ್ಯಾದ್‌ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳ ಒಂದರಲ್ಲಿ ಹೂಣಲ್ಪಟ್ಟನು.
