ಆಗ ಎಬೆದನ ಮಗನಾದ ಗಾಳನು--ನಾವು ಅವನನ್ನು ಸೇವಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ಅಬೀ ಮೆಲೆಕನು ಯಾರು? ಶೆಕೆಮನು ಯಾರು? ಅವನು ಯೆರುಬ್ಬಾಳನ ಮಗನಲ್ಲವೋ? ಅವನ ಪ್ರಧಾನನು ಜೆಬುಲನಲ್ಲವೋ? ಶೆಕೆಮಿನ ತಂದೆಯಾದ ಹಮೋರನ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನೇ ಸೇವಿಸಿರಿ; ಇವನನ್ನು ನಾವು ಯಾಕೆ ಸೇವಿಸಬೇಕು?
Aaga ebedana maganaada gaalanu--naavu avanannu sevisuva haage abee melekanu yaaru? Shekemanu yaaru? Avanu yerubbaalana maganallavo? Avana pradhaananu jebulanallavo? Shekemina tandeyaada hamorana manushyaranne sevisiri; ivanannu naavu yaake sevisabeku?

- 29ಈ ಜನರನ್ನು ದೇವರು ನನ್ನ ಕೈಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಿದರೆ ಚೆನ್ನಾಗಿತ್ತು, ಆಗ ನಾನು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಹಾಕುವೆನು. ಅವನು ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ಸೈನ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೊರಟು ಬಾ ಅಂದನು.
