ಅವನು ಜನರನ್ನು ತಕ್ಕೊಂಡು ಅವರನ್ನು ಮೂರು ಗುಂಪುಗಳಾಗಿ ಮಾಡಿ ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚಿ ಕೊಂಡನು. ಇಗೋ, ಜನರು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಿಂದ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಂದರು. ಅವನು ಅವರ ಮೇಲೆ ಎದ್ದು ಬಂದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದನು.

44ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನೂ ಅವನ ಸಂಗಡ ಇದ್ದ ಜನರ ಗುಂಪೂ ಮುಂದಕ್ಕೆ ಓಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಪ್ರವೇಶ ದ್ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತರು. ಮಿಕ್ಕಾದ ಎರಡು ಗುಂಪು ಜನರು ಹೊಲದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರೆ ಲ್ಲರ ಮೇಲೆ ಬಿದ್ದು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹತಮಾಡಿಬಿಟ್ಟರು.
45ಅಬೀಮೆಲೆಕನು ಆ ದಿನವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಮೇಲೆ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಹಿಡಿದು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಜನ ವನ್ನು ಕೊಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಬಿಟ್ಟು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಉಪ್ಪು ಎರಚಿಬಿಟ್ಟನು.
