ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಪಾಳತಿ ನೋಡುವ ಮಾರ್ಗದಿಂದ ಬರುತ್ತಾ ರೆಂದು ದಕ್ಷಿಣದಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಸಿಸುವ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯನಾದ ಅರಾದ್‌ ಪಟ್ಟಣದ ಅರಸನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವರ ಸಂಗಡ ಯುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿ ಅವರಲ್ಲಿ ಕೆಲವರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಯಾಗಿ ಒಯ್ದನು.

- 3ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಯನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಕಾನಾನ್ಯರನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟುಬಿಟ್ಟನು; ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಅವರನ್ನೂ ಅವರ ಪಟ್ಟಣಗಳನ್ನೂ ಸಂಪೂರ್ಣವಾಗಿ ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅವರು ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರ್ಮಾ ಎಂದು ಹೆಸರಿಟ್ಟರು.
