ಕರ್ತನು ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟದಿದ್ದರೆ, ಅದನ್ನು ಕಟ್ಟುವವರು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಕಷ್ಟಪಡುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಕರ್ತನು ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡದೆ ಇದ್ದರೆ ಅದನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುವವನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಎಚ್ಚರ ವಾಗಿರುತ್ತಾನೆ.
A Song of degrees for Solomon. Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh [but] in vain.
ರೊಟ್ಟಿಗಾಗಿ ವ್ಯಥೆಪಟ್ಟು ಬೆಳಿಗ್ಗೆ ಬೇಗ ಏಳುವದೂ ರಾತ್ರಿ ತಡವಾಗಿ ಮಲಗುವದೂ ವ್ಯರ್ಥವೇ. ಆತನು ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಿಯರಿಗೆ ನಿದ್ರೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅದನ್ನು ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
[It is] vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: [for] so he giveth his beloved sleep.
ಇಗೋ, ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಕರ್ತನಿಂದ ಸಿಕ್ಕಿದ ಸ್ವಾಸ್ಥ್ಯವಾಗಿ ದ್ದಾರೆ; ಗರ್ಭಫಲವು ಆತನ ಬಹುಮಾನವಾಗಿದೆ.
Lo, children [are] an heritage of the LORD: [and] the fruit of the womb [is his] reward.
ಯೌವನದ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಶಾಲಿಯ ಕೈಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಾಣಗಳು ಹೇಗೋ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ.ತನ್ನ ಬತ್ತಳಿಕೆ ಯನ್ನು ಅವರಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದ ಪುರುಷನು ಧನ್ಯನು; ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾಗಲಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡರು.
As arrows [are] in the hand of a mighty man; so [are] children of the youth.
ತನ್ನ ಬತ್ತಳಿಕೆ ಯನ್ನು ಅವರಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿಸಿದ ಪುರುಷನು ಧನ್ಯನು; ಶತ್ರುಗಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಬಾಗಲಲ್ಲಿ ಮಾತನಾಡುವಾಗ ಅವರು ನಾಚಿಕೆಪಡರು.
Happy [is] the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.
