യെഹൂദാരാജാവായ ആസയുടെ ഇരുപത്തേഴാം ആണ്ടിൽ സിമ്രി തിർസ്സയിൽ ഏഴു ദിവസം രാജാവായിരുന്നു; അന്നു പടജ്ജനം ഫെലിസ്ത്യർക്കുള്ള ഗിബ്ബെഥോൻ നിരോധിച്ചിരിക്കയായിരുന്നു.

Yehoodaaraajaavaaya aasayute irupattezhaam aantil simri tirssayil ezhu divasam raajaavaayirunnu; annu patajjanam phelistyarkkulla gibbethon nirodhichchirikkayaayirunnu.

16സിമ്രി കൂട്ടുകെട്ടുണ്ടാക്കി രാജാവിനെ കൊന്നുകളഞ്ഞു എന്നു പാളയം ഇറങ്ങിയിരുന്ന പടജ്ജനം കേട്ടപ്പോൾ എല്ലായിസ്രായേലും അന്നു തന്നേ പാളയത്തിൽവെച്ചു സേനാധിപതിയായ ഒമ്രിയെ യിസ്രായേലിന്നു രാജാവാക്കി വാഴിച്ചു.
17ഉടനെ ഒമ്രി എല്ലായിസ്രായേലുമായി ഗിബ്ബെഥോൻ വിട്ടുചെന്നു തിർസ്സയെ നിരോധിച്ചു.
