അപ്പോൾ ശൗൽ അവനെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ അവന്റെ നേരെ കുന്തം ചാട്ടി; അതിനാൽ തന്റെ അപ്പൻ ദാവീദിനെ കൊല്ലുവാൻ നിർണ്ണയിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യോനാഥാൻ അറിഞ്ഞു.
Appol shal avane kolluvaan avante nere kuntam chaatti; atinaal tante appan daaveedine kolluvaan nirnnayichchirikkunnu ennu yonaathaan arinynyu.

- 34യോനാഥാൻ അതികോപത്തോടെ പന്തിഭോജനത്തിൽനിന്നു എഴുന്നേറ്റു; അമാവാസ്യയുടെ പിറ്റെന്നാൾ ഭക്ഷണം ഒന്നും കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല; തന്റെ അപ്പൻ ദാവീദിനെ അപമാനിച്ചതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു അവൻ വ്യസനിച്ചിരുന്നു.
