1. 18అప్పుడు ముప్పదిమందికి అధిపతియైన అమాశై ఆత్మవశుడైదావీదూ, మేము నీవారము; యెష్షయి కుమారుడా, మేము నీ పక్షమున ఉన్నాము; నీకు సమాధానము కలుగునుగాక, సమా ధానము కలుగునుగాక, నీ సహకారులకును సమాధానము కలుగునుగాక, నీ దేవుడే నీకు సహాయము చేయునని పలు కగా దావీదు వారిని చేర్చుకొని వారిని తన దండునకు అధిపతులుగా చేసెను.
2. 19సౌలుమీద యుద్ధముచేయబోయిన ఫిలిష్తీయులతో కూడ దావీదు వచ్చినప్పుడు మనష్షే సంబం ధులలో కొందరును అతని పక్షముచేరిరి; దావీదు ఫిలిష్తీ యులకు సహాయము చేయకపోయెను, ఏలయనగా అతడు తన యజమానుడైన సౌలు పక్షమునకు మరలి తమకు ప్రాణ హాని చేయునని యెంచి ఫిలిష్తీయుల అధికారులు అతని పంపివేసిరి.
3. 20అంతట అతడు సిక్లగునకు తిరిగి పోవుచుండగా మనష్షే సంబంధులైన అద్నా యోజాబాదు, యెదీయవేలు, మిఖాయేలు, యోజాబాదు, ఎలీహు, జిల్లెతై అను మనష్షే గోత్రపువారికి అధిపతులు అతని పక్షముచేరిరి.
4. 21వారందరును పరాక్రమ శాలులును సైన్యాధిపతులునై యుండిరి; ఆ దండును హతముచేయుటకు వారు దావీదునకు సహాయముచేసిరి.
5. 22దావీదు దండు దేవుని సైన్యమువలె మహాసైన్యమగునట్లు ప్రతిదినమున అతనికి సహాయము చేయువారు అతనియొద్దకు వచ్చు చుండిరి.
