Then the spirit came upon Amasai, [who was] chief of the captains, [and he said], Thine [are we], David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace [be] unto thee, and peace [be] to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band.

3. 18అప్పుడు ముప్పదిమందికి అధిపతియైన అమాశై ఆత్మవశుడైదావీదూ, మేము నీవారము; యెష్షయి కుమారుడా, మేము నీ పక్షమున ఉన్నాము; నీకు సమాధానము కలుగునుగాక, సమా ధానము కలుగునుగాక, నీ సహకారులకును సమాధానము కలుగునుగాక, నీ దేవుడే నీకు సహాయము చేయునని పలు కగా దావీదు వారిని చేర్చుకొని వారిని తన దండునకు అధిపతులుగా చేసెను.
4. 19సౌలుమీద యుద్ధముచేయబోయిన ఫిలిష్తీయులతో కూడ దావీదు వచ్చినప్పుడు మనష్షే సంబం ధులలో కొందరును అతని పక్షముచేరిరి; దావీదు ఫిలిష్తీ యులకు సహాయము చేయకపోయెను, ఏలయనగా అతడు తన యజమానుడైన సౌలు పక్షమునకు మరలి తమకు ప్రాణ హాని చేయునని యెంచి ఫిలిష్తీయుల అధికారులు అతని పంపివేసిరి.
5. 20అంతట అతడు సిక్లగునకు తిరిగి పోవుచుండగా మనష్షే సంబంధులైన అద్నా యోజాబాదు, యెదీయవేలు, మిఖాయేలు, యోజాబాదు, ఎలీహు, జిల్లెతై అను మనష్షే గోత్రపువారికి అధిపతులు అతని పక్షముచేరిరి.
