అందుకతడు లేచి సారెపతునకు పోయి పట్టణపు గవినియొద్దకు రాగా, ఒక విధవరాలు అచ్చట కట్టెలు ఏరుచుండుట చూచి ఆమెను పిలిచి త్రాగుటకై పాత్రతో కొంచెము నీళ్లు నాకు తీసికొనిరమ్మని వేడుకొనెను.

King James Version (KJV): So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, behold, the widow woman [was] there gathering of sticks: and he called to her, and said, Fetch me, I pray thee, a little water in a vessel, that I may drink.

12అందుకామెనీ దేవుడైన యెహోవా జీవముతోడు తొట్టిలో పట్టెడు పిండియు బుడ్డిలో కొంచెము నూనెయు నాయొద్దనున్నవే గాని అప్పమొకటైన లేదు, మేము చావకముందు నేను ఇంటికి పోయి వాటిని నాకును నా బిడ్డకును సిద్ధము చేసికొనవలెనని కొన్ని పుల్లలు ఏరుటకై వచ్చితిననెను.
