- 12దావీదు యూదా బేత్లెహేమువాడగు ఎఫ్రాతీయు డైన యెష్షయి అనువాని కుమారుడు. యెష్షయికి ఎనమండు గురు కుమాళ్లుండిరి. అతడు సౌలు కాలమందు జనులలో ముసలివాడై యుండెను.
- 13అయితే యెష్షయియొక్క ముగ్గురు పెద్దకుమారులు యుద్ధమునకు సౌలువెంటను పోయి యుండిరి. యుద్ధమునకు పోయిన అతని ముగ్గురు కుమా రుల పేరులు ఏవనగా, జ్యేష్ఠుడు ఏలీయాబు, రెండవవాడు అబీనాదాబు, మూడవవాడు షమ్మా,
- 14దావీదు కనిష్ఠుడు; పెద్దవారైన ముగ్గురు సౌలువెంటను పోయి యుండిరిగాని
- 15దావీదు బేత్లెహేములోతన తండ్రి గొఱ్ఱెలను మేపుచు సౌలునొద్దకు తిరిగి పోవుచు వచ్చుచు నుండెను.
- 16ఆ ఫిలిష్తీయుడు ఉదయమునను సాయంత్రమునను బయలు దేరుచు నలువది దినములు తన్ను తాను అగుపరచుకొనుచు వచ్చెను.
