పొలములో ఒక ఐగుప్తీయుడు కనబడెను. వారు దావీదునొద్దకు వాని తోడుకొనివచ్చి, వాడు మూడు రాత్రింబగళ్లు అన్నపానము లేమియు పుచ్చు కొనలేదని తెలిసికొని, వానికి భోజనము పెట్టి దాహమిచ్చి అంజూరపు అడలోని ముక్కను రెండు ద్రాక్షగెలలను వానికిచ్చిరి.

- 13దావీదు నీవు ఏ దేశపువాడవు? ఎక్కడనుండి వచ్చితివని వాని నడిగెను. అందుకు వాడునేను ఐగుప్తీయుడనై పుట్టి అమాలేకీయుడైన యొకనికి దాసుడనైతిని; మూడు దినముల క్రిందట నేను కాయిలా పడగా నా యజమానుడు నన్ను విడిచిపెట్టి పోయెను.
