2. 2అతనికి సౌలు అను నొక కుమారుడుండెను. అతడు బహు సౌందర్యముగల ¸యౌవనుడు, ఇశ్రాయేలీయులలో అతనిపాటి సుందరు డొకడునులేడు. అతడు భుజములు మొదలుకొని పైకి ఇతరులకంటె ఎత్తు గలవాడు.
3. 3సౌలు తండ్రియైన కీషుయొక్క గార్దభములు తప్పిపోగా కీషు తన కుమారుడైన సౌలును పిలిచిమన దాసులలో ఒకని తీసికొనిపోయి గార్దభములను వెదకుమని చెప్పెను.
4. 4అతడు పోయి ఎఫ్రాయిము మన్యము తిరిగి షాలిషాదేశమున సంచరింపగా అవి కన బడలేదు. తరువాత వారు షయలీము దేశమును దాటి సంచారము చేసిరి గాని అవి కనబడకయుండెను. బెన్యామీనీయుల దేశము సంచరించి చూడగా అవి దొరకలేదు.
5. 5అయితే వారు సూపు దేశమునకు వచ్చి నప్పుడుమనము తిరిగి వెళ్లుదము రమ్ము, గార్దభముల కొరకు చింతింపక, నా తండ్రి మనకొరకు విచారపడు నేమోయని సౌలు తనయొద్దనున్న పనివానితో అనగా
