మన జనమంతయు నశింప కుండునట్లు ఒక మనుష్యుడు ప్రజలకొరకు చనిపోవుట మీకు ఉపయుక్తమని మీరు ఆలోచించుకొనరు అని వారితో చెప్పెను.

48మనమాయనను ఈలాగు చూచుచు ఊరకుండినయెడల అందరు ఆయనయందు విశ్వాసముంచెదరు; అప్పుడు రోమీయులు వచ్చి మన స్థలమును మన జనమును ఆక్ర మించుకొందురని చెప్పిరి.
49అయితే వారిలో కయప అను ఒకడు ఆ సంవత్సరము ప్రధాన యాజకుడైయుండిమీ కేమియు తెలియదు.

51తనంతట తానే యీలాగు చెప్పలేదు గాని ఆ సంవత్సరము ప్రధానయాజకుడై యుండెను గనుక
52యేసు ఆ జనముకొరకును, ఆ జనముకొరకు మాత్రమేగాక చెదరిపోయిన దేవుని పిల్లలను ఏకముగా సమకూర్చుటకును, చావనైయున్నాడని ప్రవచించెను.
