23సైనికులు యేసును సిలువవేసిన తరువాత ఆయన వస్త్ర ములు తీసికొని, యొక్కొక్క సైనికునికి ఒక్కొక భాగము వచ్చునట్లు వాటిని నాలుగు భాగములు చేసిరి. ఆయన అంగీనికూడ తీసికొని, ఆ అంగీ కుట్టులేక పైనుండి యావత్తు నేయబడినది గనుక అతడు వచ్చి యేసు దేహమును తీసికొనిపోయెను.
