హెరెసు ఎగువనుండి తిరిగి వచ్చి, సుక్కోతు వారిలో ఒక ¸యౌవనుని పట్టుకొని విచారింపగా అతడు సుక్కోతు అధిపతులను పెద్దలలో డెబ్బది యేడుగురు మనుష్యులను పేరు పేరుగా వివరించి చెప్పెను.

- 16ఆ ఊరిపెద్దలను పట్టుకొని నూర్చుకొయ్యలను బొమ్మజెముడును తీసికొని వాటివలన సుక్కోతువారికి బుద్ధి చెప్పెను.

- 1 Samuel 30:11–15 1 సమూయేలు 30:11–15పొలములో ఒక ఐగుప్తీయుడు కనబడెను. వారు దావీదునొద్దకు వాని తోడుకొనివచ్చి, వాడు మూడు రాత్రింబగళ్లు అన్నపానము లేమియు పుచ్చు కొనలేదని తెలిసికొని, వానికి భోజనము పెట్టి దాహమిచ్చి అంజూరపు అడలోని ముక్కను రెండు ద్రాక్షగెలలను వానికిచ్చిరి. వాడు భోజనము చేసిన తరువాత వాని ప్రాణము తెప్పరిల్లగా దావీదు నీవు ఏ దేశపువాడవు? ఎక్కడనుండి వచ్చితివని వాని నడిగెను. అందుకు వాడునేను ఐగుప్తీయుడనై పుట్టి అమాలేకీయుడైన యొకనికి దాసుడనైతిని; మూడు దినముల క్రిందట నేను కాయిలా పడగా నా యజమానుడు నన్ను విడిచిపెట్టి పోయెను. మేము దండెత్తి కెరేతీయుల దక్షిణ దేశమునకును యూదా దేశమునకును కాలేబు దక్షిణ దేశమునకును వచ్చి వాటిని దోచుకొని సిక్లగును కాల్చివేసితిమని చెప్పెను. ఆ దండును కలిసికొనుటకై నీవు నాకు దోవచూపుదువా అని దావీదు వాని నడుగగా వాడునేను నిన్ను చంపననియు నీ యజమానుని వశము చేయననియు దేవునిబట్టి నీవు నాకు ప్రమాణము చేసినయెడల ఆ దండును కలిసి కొనుటకు నీకు దోవచూపుదుననెను.
