25వెంటనే ఆమె త్వరగా రాజునొద్దకు వచ్చి - బాప్తిస్మమిచ్చు యోహాను తల పళ్లెములో పెట్టియిప్పుడే నాకిప్పింప గోరుచున్నానని చెప్పెను.
26రాజు బహుగా దుఃఖపడెను గాని తాను పెట్టుకొనిన ఒట్టు నిమిత్తమును తనతో కూర్చుండియున్న వారి నిమిత్తమును ఆమెకు ఇయ్యను అననొల్లక పోయెను.
27వెంటనే రాజు అతని తల తెమ్మని ఆజ్ఞాపించి యొక బంట్రౌతును పంపెను. వాడు వెళ్లి చెరసాలలో అతని తల గొట్టి
28పళ్లెములో అతని తల పెట్టి తెచ్చి ఆ చిన్న దాని కిచ్చెను, ఆ చిన్నది తన తల్లికిచ్చెను.
29యోహాను శిష్యులు ఈ సంగతి విని, వచ్చి శవమును ఎత్తికొనిపోయి సమాధిలో ఉంచిరి.
