ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಮಹಾಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ರೂಪವುಳ್ಳವಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಯಾರೆಂದು ಕೇಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ--ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬನು--ಅವಳು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಎಲೀಯಾಮನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಬತ್ಷೆಬೆಯಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದನು.
Aa streeyu mahaasaundarya roopavullavalaagiddalu. Aaga daaveedanu aa stree yaarendu keluvadakke--kaluhisidaaga obbanu--avalu hittiyanaada ooreeyana hendatiyaagiruva eleeyaamana magalaada batshebeyallavo andanu.

- 2ಆಗ ಆದದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ, ದಾವೀದನು ಒಂದು ದಿನ ಸಾಯಂಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ತನ್ನ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯಿಂದ ಎದ್ದು ಅರಮನೆಯ ಉಪ್ಪರಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲೆ ತಿರುಗಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಇರುವಾಗ ಸ್ನಾನಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯನ್ನು ಉಪ್ಪರಿಗೆಯ ಮೇಲಿನಿಂದ ನೋಡಿದನು.
- 3ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಮಹಾಸೌಂದರ್ಯ ರೂಪವುಳ್ಳವಳಾಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಆಗ ದಾವೀದನು ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಯಾರೆಂದು ಕೇಳುವದಕ್ಕೆ--ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬನು--ಅವಳು ಹಿತ್ತಿಯನಾದ ಊರೀಯನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯಾಗಿರುವ ಎಲೀಯಾಮನ ಮಗಳಾದ ಬತ್ಷೆಬೆಯಲ್ಲವೋ ಅಂದನು.
- 4ದಾವೀದನು ದೂತರನ್ನು ಕಳುಹಿಸಿ ಅವಳನ್ನು ಕರೆಯಿಸಿದನು. ಅವಳು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಅವಳು ತನ್ನ ಮೈಲಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಕಳಕೊಂಡು ಶುಚಿಯಾಗಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ದಾವೀದನು ಅವಳ ಸಂಗಡ ಮಲಗಿದನು.
- 5ತರುವಾಯ ಆಕೆಯು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದಳು. ಆ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಗರ್ಭಧರಿಸಿ ತಾನು ಗರ್ಭವತಿಯಾದೆನೆಂದು ದಾವೀದನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದಳು.
