ಅವನು ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದಾಗ ಸೂರ್ಯಾಸ್ತಮಾನವಾದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡನು. ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತಲೆದಿಂಬಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.

- 11ಅವನು ಒಂದು ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿದಾಗ ಸೂರ್ಯಾಸ್ತಮಾನವಾದದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇಳುಕೊಂಡನು. ಅವನು ಅಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನು ತೆಗೆದುಕೊಂಡು ತಲೆದಿಂಬಾಗಿ ಇಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಆ ಸ್ಥಳದಲ್ಲಿ ಮಲಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.
- 12ಆಗ ಅವನು ಕನಸು ಕಂಡನು. ಇಗೋ, ಏಣಿಯು ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಲ್ಲಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಅದರ ತುದಿಯು ಆಕಾಶಕ್ಕೆ ಮುಟ್ಟಿತ್ತು. ಇಗೋ, ದೇವದೂತರು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ಏರುತ್ತಾ ಇಳಿಯುತ್ತಾ ಇದ್ದರು.
- 13ಇಗೋ, ಕರ್ತನು ಅದರ ಮೇಲೆ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದೇನಂದರೆ--ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ಯಾದ ಅಬ್ರಹಾಮನ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರೂ ಇಸಾಕನ ದೇವರೂ ನಾನೇ, ನೀನು ಮಲಗಿರುವ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನು ನಿನಗೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಸಂತತಿಗೂ ಕೊಡುವೆನು.
