ಜನರು ಬೇಸರಗೊಳ್ಳದೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸತಕ್ಕದ್ದೆಂದು ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ಸಾಮ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದನು--
And he spake a parable unto them [to this end], that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
ಒಂದಾನೊಂದು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಒಬ್ಬ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿಪತಿ ಇದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡದವನೂ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಮಾಡದವನೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದನು.
Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
ಆ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬ ವಿಧವೆಯು ಅವನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು--ನನ್ನ ಪ್ರತಿ ವಾದಿಗೂ ನನಗೂ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ ಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.
And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
ಅವನು ಸ್ವಲ್ಪಕಾಲದವರೆಗೆ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲ ದವನಾಗಿದ್ದನು; ತರುವಾಯ ಅವನು ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ--ನಾನು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಭಯಪಡುವದಿಲ್ಲ, ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯಮಾಡುವದೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
ಅದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಈ ವಿಧವೆಯು ನನಗೆ ತೊಂದರೆ ಕೊಟ್ಟು ಪದೇ ಪದೇ ನನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ದಣಿಸದಂತೆ ನಾನು ಅವಳಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯತೀರಿಸುವೆನು ಎಂದು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡನು.
Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
ಕರ್ತನು--ಈ ಅನ್ಯಾಯಗಾರನಾದ ನ್ಯಾಯಾಧಿ ಪತಿಯು ಅಂದುಕೊಂಡದ್ದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿರಿ.
And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
ದೇವರಾದು ಕೊಂಡವರು ಆತನಿಗೆ ಹಗಲು ರಾತ್ರಿ ಮೊರೆಯಿಡು ವಾಗ ಆತನು ಅವರ ವಿಷಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ತಡಮಾಡಿದರೂ ಅವರ ನ್ಯಾಯವನ್ನು ತೀರಿಸದೆ ಇರುವನೇ?
And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
ಆತನು ಬೇಗನೆ ಅವರಿಗೆ ನ್ಯಾಯ ತೀರಿಸುವನೆಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ. ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ಮನುಷ್ಯಕುಮಾರನು ಬಂದಾಗ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಣುವನೋ ಅಂದನು.
I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?
ತಾವು ನೀತಿವಂತರೆಂದು ತಮ್ಮಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಭರವಸ ವನ್ನಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಂಡು ಬೇರೆಯವರನ್ನು ಅಸಡ್ಡೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಕೆಲವರಿಗೆ ಈ ಸಾಮ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others:
ಇಬ್ಬರು ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವಾಲಯದೊಳಗೆ ಹೋದರು; ಒಬ್ಬನು ಫರಿಸಾಯನು, ಮತ್ತೊಬ್ಬನು ಸುಂಕದವನು.
Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican.
ಫರಿಸಾಯನು ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ತನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ಹೀಗೆ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥಿಸುತ್ತಾ--ದೇವರೇ, ಸುಲು ಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರೂ ಅನೀತಿವಂತರೂ ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರಿಗಳೂ ಆಗಿರುವ ಮಿಕ್ಕಾದವರಂತೆ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಈ ಸುಂಕದವನ ಹಾಗೆ ನಾನು ಅಲ್ಲ, ಆದದರಿಂದ ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಸ್ತೋತ್ರ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ.
The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
ನಾನು ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಎರಡು ಸಾರಿ ಉಪವಾಸ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ; ನನಗಿರುವದೆ ಲ್ಲವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದಶಾಂಶ ಕೊಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.
ಆದರೆ ಸುಂಕದವನು ದೂರದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ಆಕಾಶದ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಕಣ್ಣೆತ್ತಿ ನೋಡುವದಕ್ಕೂ ಮನಸ್ಸಿಲ್ಲದೆ ತನ್ನ ಎದೆಯನ್ನು ಬಡುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾ--ದೇವರು ಪಾಪಿ ಯಾದ ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಕರುಣಿಸಲಿ ಅಂದನು.
And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as [his] eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
ಇವನೇ ಫರಿಸಾಯನಿಗಿಂತ ನೀತಿವಂತನೆಂದು ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟ ವನಾಗಿ ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಹೋದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ತನ್ನನ್ನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವ ಪ್ರತಿಯೊಬ್ಬನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವನು ಮತ್ತು ತನ್ನನ್ನು ತಗ್ಗಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಹೆಚ್ಚಿಸಲ್ಪಡುವನು ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.
I tell you, this man went down to his house justified [rather] than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
ತರುವಾಯ ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ಸಹ ಯೇಸು ಮುಟ್ಟುವಂತೆ ಜನರು ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ತಂದಾಗ ಆತನ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಇದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಅವರನು ಗದರಿಸಿದರು.
And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when [his] disciples saw [it], they rebuked them.
ಆದರೆ ಯೇಸು ಅವರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು--ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಕ್ಕಳನ್ನು ನನ್ನ ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಬರುವಂತೆ ಬಿಡಿರಿ; ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಿ ಮಾಡಬೇಡಿರಿ; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯವು ಅಂಥವರದೇ.
But Jesus called them [unto him], and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
ಯಾವನಾದರೂ ಈ ಚಿಕ್ಕ ಮಗುವಿನಂತೆ ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ಅಂಗೀಕರಿಸದಿರುವನೋ ಅವನು ಅದರೊಳಗೆ ಸೇರುವದೇ ಇಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಜವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
ಆಗ ಒಬ್ಬಾನೊಬ್ಬ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಯು ಆತನಿಗೆ--ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಬೋಧಕನೇ, ನಾನು ನಿತ್ಯಜೀವವನ್ನು ಬಾಧ್ಯ ವಾಗಿ ಹೊಂದುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕು ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ--ನೀನು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನೆಂದು ಯಾಕೆ ಕರೆಯುತ್ತೀ? ದೇವರೊಬ್ಬನೇ ಹೊರತು ಒಳ್ಳೆಯವನು ಯಾವನೂ ಇಲ್ಲ.
And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none [is] good, save one, [that is], God.
ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಬೇಡ, ನರಹತ್ಯ ಮಾಡ ಬೇಡ, ಕದಿಯಬೇಡ, ಸುಳ್ಳುಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಬೇಡ, ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಮತ್ತು ನಿನ್ನ ತಾಯಿಯನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸಬೇಕು ಎಂಬ ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೀನು ಬಲ್ಲವನಾಗಿದ್ದೀ ಅಂದನು.
Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.
ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ನನ್ನ ಬಾಲ್ಯದಿಂದ ನಾನು ಇವೆಲ್ಲವು ಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And he said, All these have I kept from my youth up.
ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಇವುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ--ಆದಾಗ್ಯೂ ನಿನಗೆ ಒಂದು ಕೊರತೆ ಇದೆ; ನಿನಗೆ ಇರುವದೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಮಾರಿ ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಹಂಚಿಕೊಡು; ಪರಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಸಂಪತ್ತು ಇರುವದು; ಬಂದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾ ಲಿಸು ಅಂದನು.
Now when Jesus heard these things, he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me.
ಅವನು ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿ ಬಹಳ ದುಃಖವುಳ್ಳವನಾದನು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಅವನು ಬಹಳ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನಾಗಿದ್ದನು.
And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich.
ಅವನು ಬಹಳ ವ್ಯಥೆಗೊಂಡದ್ದನ್ನು ಯೇಸು ನೋಡಿ--ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯ ವಂತರು ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುವದು ಎಷ್ಟೋ ಕಷ್ಟ.
And when Jesus saw that he was very sorrowful, he said, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನು ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಸೇರುವದಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಒಂಟೆಯು ಸೂಜಿಯ ಕಣ್ಣಿನಲ್ಲಿ ತೂರುವದು ಸುಲಭ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
ಇದನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದವರು--ಹಾಗಾದರೆ ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಹೊಂದುವವರು ಯಾರು? ಅಂದರು.
And they that heard [it] said, Who then can be saved?
ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಆತನು--ಮನುಷ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯವಾದವುಗಳು ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸಾಧ್ಯವಾಗಿವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
And he said, The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.
ಆಗ ಪೇತ್ರನು--ಇಗೋ, ನಾವು ಎಲ್ಲವನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದ್ದೇವೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದಕ್ಕೆ
Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.
ಆತನು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಒಬ್ಬನು ಮನೆ ಯನ್ನಾದರೂ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನಾದರೂ ಸಹೋದರರನ್ನಾದರೂ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನಾದರೂ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಮಕ್ಕಳ ನ್ನಾದರೂ ದೇವರ ರಾಜ್ಯಕ್ಕೋಸ್ಕರ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡುವವನು
And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,
ಈ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಅತ್ಯಧಿಕವಾದವುಗಳನ್ನೂ ಬರುವ ಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿತ್ಯಜೀವವನ್ನೂ ಹೊಂದಿಯೇ ಹೊಂದು ವನು ಎಂದು ನಾನು ನಿಮಗೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತೇನೆ ಅಂದನು.
Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಆತನು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ಮಂದಿಯನ್ನು ಹತ್ತಿರಕ್ಕೆ ಕರೆದು ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಇಗೋ, ನಾವು ಯೆರೂಸ ಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತೇವೆ; ಮನುಷ್ಯಕುಮಾರನ ವಿಷಯ ದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರವಾದಿಗಳಿಂದ ಬರೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲವೂ ನೆರವೇರಬೇಕು.
Then he took [unto him] the twelve, and said unto them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and all things that are written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished.
ಆತನು ಅನ್ಯಜನಗಳಿಗೆ ಒಪ್ಪಿಸಲ್ಪ ಡುವನು; ಅವರು ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಾಸ್ಯಮಾಡುವವರಾಗಿ ಅವಮಾನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಉಗುಳುವರು.
For he shall be delivered unto the Gentiles, and shall be mocked, and spitefully entreated, and spitted on:
ಇದಲ್ಲದೆ ಅವರು ಆತನನ್ನು ಕೊರಡೆಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದು ಕೊಲ್ಲುವರು. ಮೂರನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಆತನು ತಿರಿಗಿ ಏಳುವನು ಅಂದನು.
And they shall scourge [him], and put him to death: and the third day he shall rise again.
ಆದರೆ ಶಿಷ್ಯರು ಇವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದನ್ನೂ ಗ್ರಹಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ; ಈ ಮಾತು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಮರೆಯಾಗಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಆತನು ಹೇಳಿದವು ಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರು ತಿಳಿಯಲಿಲ್ಲ.
And they understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.
ಇದಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಆತನು ಯೆರಿಕೋವಿನ ಸವಿಾಪಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಒಬ್ಬಾನೊಬ್ಬ ಕುರುಡನು ದಾರಿಯ ಬದಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂತುಕೊಂಡು ಭಿಕ್ಷೆ ಬೇಡು ತ್ತಿದ್ದನು;
And it came to pass, that as he was come nigh unto Jericho, a certain blind man sat by the way side begging:
ಜನಸಮೂಹವು ಹಾದುಹೋಗುವದನ್ನು ಇವನು ಕೇಳಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು ಅದೇನೆಂದು ವಿಚಾರಿಸಿದನು.
And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.
ನಜರೇತಿನವನಾದ ಯೇಸು ಹಾದು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾ ನೆಂದು ಅವರು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
And they told him, that Jesus of Nazareth passeth by.
ಆಗ ಅವನು--ಯೇಸುವೇ, ದಾವೀದನಕುಮಾರನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರುಣೆಯಿಡು ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.
And he cried, saying, Jesus, [thou] Son of David, have mercy on me.
ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದವರು ಅವನು ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರು ವಂತೆ ಅವನನ್ನು ಗದರಿಸಿದರು. ಆದರೂ ಅವನು--ದಾವೀದನಕುಮಾರನೇ, ನನ್ನ ಮೇಲೆ ಕರುಣೆಯಿಡು ಎಂದು ಮತ್ತಷ್ಟು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗಿ ಕೂಗಿಕೊಂಡನು.
And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, [Thou] Son of David, have mercy on me.
ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು ಅವನನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಕರತರುವಂತೆ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟನು; ಅವನು ಆತನ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಬಂದಾಗ ಆತನು ಅವನಿಗೆ--
And Jesus stood, and commanded him to be brought unto him: and when he was come near, he asked him,
ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೋರುತ್ತೀ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು. ಅದಕ್ಕವನು--ಕರ್ತನೇ, ನಾನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿಹೊಂದುವಂತೆ ಮಾಡು ಅಂದನು.
Saying, What wilt thou that I shall do unto thee? And he said, Lord, that I may receive my sight.
ಆಗ ಯೇಸು ಅವನಿಗೆ-- ನೀನು ದೃಷ್ಟಿ ಹೊಂದಿದವನಾಗು; ನಿನ್ನ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯೇ ನಿನ್ನನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸಿಯದೆ ಅಂದನು.ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಹೊಂದಿದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಮಹಿಮೆಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದನು; ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರು ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಂಡಾಟ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
ಕೂಡಲೆ ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಿಹೊಂದಿದನು. ಆಗ ಅವನು ದೇವರನ್ನು ಮಹಿಮೆಪಡಿಸುತ್ತಾ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹಿಂಬಾಲಿಸಿದನು; ಎಲ್ಲಾ ಜನರು ಅದನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಂಡಾಟ ಸಲ್ಲಿಸಿದರು.
And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw [it], gave praise unto God.
