ಆತನು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ವರುಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವರು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.

40ಆ ಶಿಶುವು ಬೆಳೆದು ಆತ್ಮದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಲಗೊಂಡು ಜ್ಞಾನದಿಂದ ತುಂಬಿದವ ನಾದನು; ದೇವರ ಕೃಪೆಯು ಆತನ ಮೇಲೆ ಇತ್ತು.
41ಆತನ ತಂದೆತಾಯಿಗಳು ಪ್ರತಿ ವರುಷವೂ ಪಸ್ಕ ಹಬ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.
42ಆತನು ಹನ್ನೆರಡು ವರುಷದವನಾಗಿದ್ದಾಗ ಅವರು ಹಬ್ಬದ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿಗೆ ಹೋದರು.
43ಅವರು ಆ ದಿವಸಗಳನ್ನು ಮುಗಿಸಿ ಕೊಂಡು ಹಿಂದಿರುಗುವಾಗ ಬಾಲಕನಾದ ಯೇಸುವು ಹಿಂದೆ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಉಳಿದನು; ಅದು ಯೋಸೇಫನಿಗೂ ಆತನ ತಾಯಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿದಿರಲಿಲ್ಲ.
44ಆದರೆ ಆತನು ಗುಂಪಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದಿರಬಹುದೆಂದು ಅವರು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ಒಂದು ದಿನದ ಪ್ರಯಾಣವನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ತಮ್ಮ ಬಳಗದವರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಪರಿ ಚಯವಾದವರಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಆತನನ್ನು ಹುಡುಕಿದರು.
