ಆಗ ದಂಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂಧಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಆ ದಂಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಬರಬ್ಬ ನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳವನೊಬ್ಬನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು.

Aaga dange maadidavarondige bandhisalpattu aa dangeyalli kole maadida barabba nemba hesarullavanobbanu alli iddanu.

5ಆದರೂ ಯೇಸು ಉತ್ತರಕೊಡದೆ ಇರಲಾಗಿ ಪಿಲಾತನು ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯಪಟ್ಟನು.
6ಆ ಹಬ್ಬದಲ್ಲಿ ಜನರು ಬೇಡಿ ಕೊಂಡ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸೆರೆಯವನನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬಿಟ್ಟುಕೊಡುವ ಪದ್ಧತಿಯಿತ್ತು.
7ಆಗ ದಂಗೆ ಮಾಡಿದವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಬಂಧಿಸಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಆ ದಂಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಿದ ಬರಬ್ಬ ನೆಂಬ ಹೆಸರುಳ್ಳವನೊಬ್ಬನು ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಇದ್ದನು.
8ಆಗ ಜನಸಮೂಹವು ಗಟ್ಟಿಯಾಗಿ ಕೂಗುತ್ತಾ ಅವನು ತಮಗೆ ಯಾವಾಗಲೂ ಮಾಡಿದ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಮಾಡ ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲಾರಂಭಿ ಸಿದರು.
9ಆದರೆ ಪಿಲಾತನು ಪ್ರತ್ಯುತ್ತರವಾಗಿ ಅವರಿಗೆ--ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ಅರಸನನ್ನು ನಿಮಗಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಬಿಡಿಸಬೇಕೋ ಎಂದು ಕೇಳಿದನು.
