ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ದೀಪವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತಿಸಿ ಕೊಳಗದೊಳಗೆ ಇಡದೆ ಅದನ್ನು ದೀಪಸ್ತಂಭದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ಅದು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಕೊಡುವದು.

- 13ನೀವು ಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಉಪ್ಪಾಗಿದ್ದೀರಿ. ಉಪ್ಪು ತನ್ನ ರುಚಿಯನ್ನು ಕಳೆದುಕೊಂಡರೆ ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಇನ್ನಾತ ರಿಂದ ರುಚಿ ಬಂದೀತು? ಅಂದಿನಿಂದ ಅದು ನಿಷ್ಪ್ರಯೋಜನವಾದದ್ದಾಗಿ ಹೊರಗೆ ಬಿಸಾಡಲ್ಪಟ್ಟು ಜನರಿಂದ ತುಳಿದಾಡಲ್ಪಡುವದು.

- 15ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ದೀಪವನ್ನು ಹೊತ್ತಿಸಿ ಕೊಳಗದೊಳಗೆ ಇಡದೆ ಅದನ್ನು ದೀಪಸ್ತಂಭದ ಮೇಲೆ ಇಡುತ್ತಾರೆ. ಆಗ ಅದು ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿರುವವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೆ ಬೆಳಕು ಕೊಡುವದು.
- 16ಅದರಂತೆಯೇ ಜನರು ನಿಮ್ಮ ಒಳ್ಳೇ ಕ್ರಿಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ನೋಡಿ ಪರಲೋಕದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ನಿಮ್ಮ ತಂದೆಯನ್ನು ಮಹಿಮೆಪಡಿಸುವ ಹಾಗೆ ನಿಮ್ಮ ಬೆಳಕು ಜನರ ಮುಂದೆ ಪ್ರಕಾಶಿಸಲಿ.
- 17ನ್ಯಾಯಪ್ರಮಾಣವನ್ನಾಗಲೀ ಪ್ರವಾದನೆಗಳ ನ್ನಾಗಲೀ ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ನಾನು ಬಂದೆ ನೆಂದು ನೆನಸಬೇಡಿರಿ, ಹಾಳುಮಾಡುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲ; ಆದರೆ ನೆರವೇರಿಸುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಂದೆನು.
