ಬಹು ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯಕ್ಕಿಂತಲೂ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಹೆಸರನ್ನೂ ಬೆಳ್ಳಿ ಬಂಗಾರಕ್ಕಿಂತ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯ ದಯವನ್ನೂ ಆರಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವದು ಉತ್ತಮ.
A [good] name [is] rather to be chosen than great riches, [and] loving favour rather than silver and gold.
ಧನಿಕರು, ಬಡವರು ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಸಂಧಿಸುತ್ತಾರೆ; ಅವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಸೃಷ್ಟಿಸಿದಾತನು ಕರ್ತನೇ.
The rich and poor meet together: the LORD [is] the maker of them all.
ಜಾಣನು ಕೇಡನ್ನು ಮುಂದಾಗಿ ನೋಡಿ ಅಡಗಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಾನೆ; ಬುದ್ಧಿಹೀನರು ಮುಂದೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುತ್ತಾರೆ.
A prudent [man] foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.
ಐಶ್ವ ರ್ಯವೂ ಮಾನವೂ ಜೀವವೂ ವಿನಯ ಕರ್ತನ ಭಯದಿಂದಲೇ.
By humility [and] the fear of the LORD [are] riches, and honour, and life.
ಮೂಢರ ದಾರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮುಳ್ಳು ಗಳೂ ಉರುಲುಗಳೂ ಇವೆ; ತನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾ ಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವವನು ಅವುಗಳಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಗಿರುವನು.
Thorns [and] snares [are] in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.
ನಡೆಯಬೇಕಾದ ಮಾರ್ಗದಲ್ಲಿರುವಂತೆ ಹುಡುಗನಿಗೆ ಶಿಕ್ಷಣಕೊಡು; ಆಗ ಮುಪ್ಪಿನಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಅವನು ಅದ ರಿಂದ ಹೊರಟು ಹೋಗುವದಿಲ್ಲ.
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತನು ಬಡವನ ಮೇಲೆ ಆಳುತ್ತಾನೆ. ಸಾಲಗಾರನು ಸಾಲಕೊಟ್ಟ ವನಿಗೆ ಸೇವಕನು.
The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower [is] servant to the lender.
ಕೆಟ್ಟತನವನ್ನು ಬಿತ್ತುವವನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥ ವನ್ನು ಕೊಯ್ಯುವನು; ಅವನ ಕೋಪದ ದಂಡವು ಬಿದ್ದುಹೋಗುವದು.
He that soweth iniquity shall reap vanity: and the rod of his anger shall fail.
ದಯಾದೃಷ್ಟಿಯುಳ್ಳವನು ಆಶೀ ರ್ವಾದವನ್ನು ಹೊಂದುವನು; ತನಗಿದ್ದ ಆಹಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಡವರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುತ್ತಾನೆ.
He that hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor.
ಪರಿಹಾಸ್ಯ ಮಾಡುವವ ನನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ತಳ್ಳಿಬಿಟ್ಟರೆ ಕಲಹವು ನಿಲ್ಲುವದು; ಹೌದು, ವಿವಾದವೂ ನಿಂದೆಯೂ ನಿಂತುಹೋಗು ವವು.
Cast out the scorner, and contention shall go out; yea, strife and reproach shall cease.
ಹೃದಯ ಶುದ್ಧಿಯನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಸುವವನಿಗೆ ತನ್ನ ತುಟಿಗಳ ಕೃಪೆಗಾಗಿ ಅರಸನು ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಿತ ನಾಗಿರುವನು.
He that loveth pureness of heart, [for] the grace of his lips the king [shall be] his friend.
ಕರ್ತನ ಕಣ್ಣುಗಳು ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಕಾಪಾಡುತ್ತವೆ; ಆತನು ದೋಷಿಯ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೆಡವಿಹಾಕುತ್ತಾನೆ.
The eyes of the LORD preserve knowledge, and he overthroweth the words of the transgressor.
ಸೋಮಾರಿಯು--ಹೊರಗೆ ಸಿಂಹವಿದೆ; ಅದು ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಬೀದಿಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕೊಂದು ಹಾಕುತ್ತದೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳುತ್ತಾನೆ.
The slothful [man] saith, [There is] a lion without, I shall be slain in the streets.
ಪರಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಬಾಯಿ ಆಳವಾದ ಕುಣಿ; ಕರ್ತನಿಗೆ ಅಸಹ್ಯವಾದವನು ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ಬೀಳುವನು.
The mouth of strange women [is] a deep pit: he that is abhorred of the LORD shall fall therein.
ಮೂರ್ಖತನವು ಹುಡುಗನ ಹೃದಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೆ. ಶಿಕ್ಷೆಯ ಬೆತ್ತವು ಅದನ್ನು ಅವನಿಂದ ದೂರವಾಗಿ ಓಡಿಸಿಬಿಡುವದು.
Foolishness [is] bound in the heart of a child; [but] the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.
ತನ್ನ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವನ್ನು ವೃದ್ಧಿಗೊಳಿಸುವದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಬಡವರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸುವವನೂ ಐಶ್ವರ್ಯವಂತರಿಗೆ ಕೊಡುವವನೂ ನಿಶ್ಚಯವಾಗಿ ಕೊರತೆಪಡುವನು.
He that oppresseth the poor to increase his [riches, and] he that giveth to the rich, [shall] surely [come] to want.
ಕಿವಿಗೊಟ್ಟು ಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಗಳ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳು; ನನ್ನ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಗೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಹೃದಯ ವನ್ನು ಪ್ರಯೋಗಿಸು.
Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನಿನ್ನೊಳಗೆ ಕಾಪಾಡಿದರೆ ಅದು ರಮ್ಯವಾಗಿದೆ; ಅವು ನಿನ್ನ ತುಟಿ ಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂದಿಕೊಂಡಿರುವವು.
For [it is] a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
ನಿನ್ನ ಭರವಸವು ಕರ್ತನಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವಂತೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಈ ದಿವಸ ತಿಳಿಯ ಪಡಿಸಿದ್ದೇನೆ.
That thy trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
ಸತ್ಯದ ಮಾತುಗಳ ಸ್ಥಿರತೆಯನ್ನು ನಾನು ನಿನಗೆ ತಿಳಿಯಪಡಿಸುವಂತೆಯೂ ನಿನ್ನ ಕಡೆಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿ ಸಿದವರಿಗೆ
Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge,
ನೀನು ಸತ್ಯದ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಉತ್ತರಿ ಸುವಂತೆಯೂ ಆಲೋಚನೆಗಳ ತಿಳುವಳಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠವಾದ ಸಂಗತಿಗಳನ್ನು ನಿನಗೆ ಬರೆಯಲಿಲ್ಲವೋ?
That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
ಅವನು ಬಡವನೆಂದು ಬಡವನನ್ನು ಸೂರೆಮಾಡ ಬೇಡ; ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ದ್ವಾರದಲ್ಲಿ ದರಿದ್ರರನ್ನು ಹಿಂಸಿಸ ಬೇಡ.
Rob not the poor, because he [is] poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate:
ಕರ್ತನು ಅವರ ವ್ಯಾಜ್ಯವನ್ನು ನಡಿಸಿ ಸೂರೆ ಮಾಡಿದವರ ಪ್ರಾಣವನ್ನು ಸೂರೆಮಾಡುವನು.
For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them.
ಸಿಟ್ಟುಗಾರನೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸ್ನೇಹಮಾಡಬೇಡ; ಕೋಪಿ ಷ್ಠನ ಸಂಗಡ ನೀನು ಹೋಗಬೇಡ.
Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:
ಹಾಗೆ ಮಾಡಿ ದರೆ ನೀನು ಅವನ ನಡತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಕಲಿತು ನಿನ್ನ ಪ್ರಾಣಕ್ಕೆ ಉರ್ಲನ್ನು ಸಿಕ್ಕಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳುವಿ.
Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
ಕೈ ಕೊಡುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ಇಲ್ಲವೆ ಸಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊಣೆಯಾಗುವವರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನು ಒಬ್ಬ ನಾಗಬೇಡ.
Be not thou [one] of them that strike hands, [or] of them that are sureties for debts.
ಸಲ್ಲಿಸುವದಕ್ಕೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಏನೂ ಇಲ್ಲದೆ ಹೋದರೆ ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆಳಗಿನ ಹಾಸಿಗೆಯನ್ನು ಅವನು ತೆಗೆದು ಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗುವದು ಯಾಕೆ?
If thou hast nothing to pay, why should he take away thy bed from under thee?
ನಿನ್ನ ಪಿತೃಗಳು ಹಾಕಿದ ಪೂರ್ವಕಾಲದ ಮೇರೆಯನ್ನು ತೆಗೆಯಬೇಡ.ತನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು ನೀನು ನೋಡಿ ದ್ದೀಯಾ? ಅವನು ನೀಚರ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಅರಸರ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ನಿಲ್ಲುವನು.
Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set.
ತನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರದ್ಧೆಯುಳ್ಳವನನ್ನು ನೀನು ನೋಡಿ ದ್ದೀಯಾ? ಅವನು ನೀಚರ ಮುಂದೆ ಅಲ್ಲ, ಅರಸರ ಮುಂದೆಯೇ ನಿಲ್ಲುವನು.
Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean [men].
