26यूहन्ना ने उन को उत्तर दिया, कि मैं तो जल से बपतिस्मा देता हूं; परन्तु तुम्हारे बीच में एक व्यक्ति खड़ा है, जिसे तुम नहीं जानते।
27अर्थात् मेरे बाद आनेवाला है, जिस की जूती का बन्ध मैं खोलने के योग्य नहीं।

29दूसरे दिन उस ने यीशु को अपनी ओर आते देखकर कहा, देखो, यह परमेश्वर का मेम्ना है, जो जगत के पाप उठा ले जाता है।
30यह वही है, जिस के विषय में मैं ने कहा था, कि एक पुरूष मेरे पीछे आता है, जो मुझ से श्रेष्ठ है, क्योंकि वह मुझ से पहिले था।
