ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ತಮಗೆ ಕೇಡು ಸವಿಾಪವಾಗಿತ್ತೆಂದು ಅರಿಯದೆ ಇದ್ದರು. ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದನು. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿ ಯುವವರಾದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ಸಾವಿರದ ನೂರು ಮನುಷ್ಯ ರನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದರು.

- 35ಆದರೆ ಅವರು ತಮಗೆ ಕೇಡು ಸವಿಾಪವಾಗಿತ್ತೆಂದು ಅರಿಯದೆ ಇದ್ದರು. ಆಗ ಕರ್ತನು ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲಿನ ಮುಂದೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನನ್ನು ಹೊಡೆದನು. ಆ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯರಲ್ಲಿ ಕತ್ತಿ ಹಿಡಿ ಯುವವರಾದ ಇಪ್ಪತ್ತೈದು ಸಾವಿರದ ನೂರು ಮನುಷ್ಯ ರನ್ನು ನಾಶಮಾಡಿದರು.
- 36ಹೀಗೆ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನನ ಮಕ್ಕಳು ತಾವು ಹೊಡೆಯಲ್ಪಟ್ಟಿದೇವೆಂದು ಕಂಡರು; ಯಾಕಂದರೆ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್‌ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಗಿಬೆಯದ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹೊಂಚು ಹಾಕುವದಕ್ಕೆ ಇಟ್ಟವರನ್ನು ನಂಬಿದ್ದದರಿಂದ ಬೆನ್ಯಾವಿಾನ್ಯರಿಗೆ ಸ್ಥಳವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟರು.
- 37ಆಗ ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದವರು ತೀವ್ರವಾಗಿ ಗಿಬೆಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋದರು. ಹೊಂಚುಹಾಕಿದ್ದವರು ಸಾಲಾಗಿ ಹೊರಟು ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿರುವವರೆಲ್ಲರನ್ನು ಕತ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆದರು.
