ಹತ್ತು ಆಜ್ಞೆಗಳು
The Ten Commandments God gave Moses on Mount Sinai (Exodus 20), in the Kannada Bible with English.
1.
ನನ್ನ ಮುಂದೆ ನಿನಗೆ ಬೇರೆ ದೇವರುಗಳು ಇರಬಾರದು.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

ನಿನಗೆ ಆಕಾಶದಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಭೂಮಿಯ ಕೆಳಗಿರುವ ನೀರುಗಳಲ್ಲಾಗಲಿ ಯಾವದರ ವಿಗ್ರಹವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ರೂಪವನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ನೀನು ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳ ಬಾರದು. ನೀನು ಅವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಅಡ್ಡಬೀಳಬಾರದು, ಸೇವಿಸಲೂ ಬಾರದು. ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನಾಗಿರುವ ನಾನು ರೋಷವುಳ್ಳ ದೇವರಾಗಿದ್ದೇನೆ. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಹಗೆ ಮಾಡುವ ತಂದೆಗಳ ಅಪರಾಧವನ್ನು ಮಕ್ಕಳ ಮೇಲೆ ಯೂ ಮೂರನೆಯ ನಾಲ್ಕನೆಯ ತಲೆಗಳ ವರೆಗೂ ಬರಮಾಡುವೆನು. ನನ್ನನ್ನು ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾಡಿ ನನ್ನ ಆಜ್ಞೆ ಗಳನ್ನು ಕೈಕೊಳ್ಳುವವರಿಗೆ ಸಾವಿರ ತಲೆಗಳ ವರೆಗೆ ದಯೆತೋರಿಸುವೆನು.
Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is] in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God [am] a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth [generation] of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಎತ್ತಬಾರದು. ಕರ್ತನು ತನ್ನ ಹೆಸರನ್ನು ವ್ಯರ್ಥವಾಗಿ ಎತ್ತುವವನನ್ನು ನಿರ್ದೋಷಿ ಯೆಂದು ಎಣಿಸುವದಿಲ್ಲ.
Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

ಸಬ್ಬತ್‌ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧವಾಗಿ ಇರುವಂತೆ ಜ್ಞಾಪಕದಲ್ಲಿಟ್ಟುಕೋ. ನೀನು ಆರು ದಿನಗಳು ದುಡಿದು ನಿನ್ನ ಕೆಲಸಗಳನ್ನೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಿಕೋ. ಆದರೆ ಏಳನೆಯ ದಿನವು ನಿನ್ನ ದೇವರಾದ ಕರ್ತನ ಸಬ್ಬತ್‌ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಅದರಲ್ಲಿ ನೀನಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ಮಗನಾಗಲಿ ಮಗಳಾ ಗಲಿ ದಾಸನಾಗಲಿ ದಾಸಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಪಶುಗಳಾಗಲಿ ಬಾಗಿಲ ಬಳಿಯಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪ್ರವಾಸಿಯಾಗಲಿ ಯಾವ ಕೆಲಸವನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು. ಆರು ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕರ್ತನು ಆಕಾಶವನ್ನೂ ಭೂಮಿಯನ್ನೂ ಸಮುದ್ರ ವನ್ನೂ ಅವುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವವುಗಳೆಲ್ಲವನ್ನೂ ಉಂಟು ಮಾಡಿ ಏಳೆನೆಯ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿಶ್ರಮಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು. ಆದದರಿಂದ ಕರ್ತನು ಸಬ್ಬತ್‌ ದಿನವನ್ನು ಆಶೀರ್ವದಿಸಿ ಅದನ್ನು ಪರಿಶುದ್ಧಮಾಡಿದನು.
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in it] thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

ನಿನ್ನ ಕರ್ತನಾದ ದೇವರು ನಿನಗೆ ಕೊಡುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ದಿವಸಗಳು ಹೆಚ್ಚಾಗುವಂತೆ ನಿನ್ನ ತಂದೆ ತಾಯಿಗಳನ್ನು ಸನ್ಮಾನಿಸು.
Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

ಕೊಲೆ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.
Thou shalt not kill.
Exodus 20:13 (ವಿಮೋಚನಕಾಂಡ 20:13) 7.
ವ್ಯಭಿಚಾರ ಮಾಡಬಾರದು.
Thou shalt not commit adultery.
Exodus 20:14 (ವಿಮೋಚನಕಾಂಡ 20:14) 8.
ಕದಿಯಬಾರದು.
Thou shalt not steal.
Exodus 20:15 (ವಿಮೋಚನಕಾಂಡ 20:15) 9.
ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಸುಳ್ಳು ಸಾಕ್ಷಿ ಹೇಳಬಾರದು.
Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
Exodus 20:16 (ವಿಮೋಚನಕಾಂಡ 20:16) 10.
ನೀನು ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಮನೆಯನ್ನು ಆಶಿಸ ಬಾರದು, ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನ ಹೆಂಡತಿಯನ್ನೂ ಆಶಿಸ ಬಾರದು; ಅವನ ದಾಸನನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ದಾಸಿಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಎತ್ತನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ಕತ್ತೆಯನ್ನಾಗಲಿ ನಿನ್ನ ನೆರೆಯವನಿಗೆ ಇರುವ ಯಾವದನ್ನೂ ಆಶಿಸಬಾರದು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.
Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is] thy neighbour’s.
