ఇంతలో నీ తండ్రి నేను లేకపోవుట కనుగొనగా నీవు ఈ మాట చెప్పవలెను. దావీదు ఇంటివారికి ఏటేట బలి చెల్లించుమర్యాద కద్దు. కాబట్టి అతడు బేత్లెహేమను తన పట్టణమునకు పోవలెనని నన్ను బ్రతిమాలి నాయొద్ద సెలవుపుచ్చు కొనెను.

King James Version (KJV): If thy father at all miss me, then say, David earnestly asked [leave] of me that he might run to Beth-lehem his city: for [there is] a yearly sacrifice there for all the family.

8నీ దాసుడనైన నాకు ఒక ఉపకారము చేయవలెను; ఏమనగా యెహోవా పేరట నీతో నిబంధన చేయుటకై నీవు నీ దాసుడనైన నన్ను రప్పించితివి; నాయందు దోషమేమైన ఉండిన యెడల నీ తండ్రియొద్దకు నన్నెందుకు తోడుకొని పోదువు? నీవే నన్ను చంపుమని యోనాతానునొద్ద మనవి చేయగా
