2. 17ఇశ్రాయేలీయులను తరుముటకు పోనివాడొక డును హాయిలోనేగాని బేతేలులోనేగాని మిగిలియుండ లేదు. వారు గవిని వేయక పట్టణమును విడిచి ఇశ్రా యేలీయులను తరుమబోయి యుండిరి.
3. 18అప్పుడు యెహోవా యెహోషువతో ఇట్లనెనునీవు చేతపట్టు కొనిన యీటెను హాయి వైపుగా చాపుము, పట్టణమును నీ చేతి కప్పగింతును, అంతట యెహోషువ తన చేతనున్న యీటెను ఆ పట్టణమువైపు చాపెను.
4. 19అతడు తన చెయ్యి చాపగా పొంచియున్నవారు మాటులోనుండి త్వరగా లేచి పరుగెత్తి పట్టణములో చొచ్చి దాని పట్టుకొని అప్పుడే తగులబెట్టిరి.
5. 20హాయివారు వెనుక వైపు తిరిగి చూచినప్పుడు ఆ పట్టణముయొక్క పొగ ఆకాశమున కెక్కుచుండెను. అప్పుడు అరణ్యమునకు పారిపోయిన జనులు తిరిగి తమ్మును తరుముచున్న వారి మీద పడుచుండిరి గనుక ఈ తట్టయినను ఆ తట్టయినను పారిపోవుటకు వారికి వీలులేక పోయెను.
