1. தேவன், தம்முடைய ஒரேபேறான குமாரனை விசுவாசிக்கிறவன் எவனோ அவன் கெட்டுப்போகாமல் நித்தியஜீவனை அடையும்படிக்கு, அவரைத் தந்தருளி, இவ்வளவாய் உலகத்தில் அன்புகூர்ந்தார்.

   For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

2. அன்பு நீடிய சாந்தமும் தயவுமுள்ளது; அன்புக்குப் பொறாமையில்லை; அன்பு தன்னைப் புகழாது, இறுமாப்பாயிராது, அயோக்கியமானதைச் செய்யாது, தற்பொழிவை நாடாது, சினமடையாது, தீங்கு நினையாது, அநியாயத்தில் சந்தோஷப்படாமல், சத்தியத்தில் சந்தோஷப்படும். சகலத்தையும் தாங்கும், சகலத்தையும் விசுவாசிக்கும், சகலத்தையும் நம்பும், சகலத்தையும் சகிக்கும்.

   Charity suffereth long, [and] is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

3. பிரியமானவர்களே, ஒருவரிலொருவர் அன்பாயிருக்கக்கடவோம்; ஏனெனில் அன்பு தேவனால் உண்டாயிருக்கிறது; அன்புள்ள எவனும் தேவனால் பிறந்து, அவரை அறிந்திருக்கிறான். அன்பில்லாதவன் தேவனை அறியான்; தேவன் அன்பாகவே இருக்கிறார்.

   Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

4. அவர் முந்தி நம்மிடத்தில் அன்பு கூர்ந்தபடியால் நாமும் அவரிடத்தில் அன்புகூருகிறோம்.

   We love him, because he first loved us.

5. நாம் பாவிகளாயிருக்கையில் கிறிஸ்து நமக்காக மரித்ததினாலே, தேவன் நம்மேல் வைத்த தமது அன்பை விளங்கப்பண்ணுகிறார்.

   But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

6. மரணமானாலும், ஜீவனானாலும், தேவதூதர்களானாலும், அதிகாரங்களானாலும், வல்லமைகளானாலும், நிகழ்காரியங்களானாலும், வருங்காரியங்களானாலும், உயர்வானாலும், தாழ்வானாலும், வேறெந்தச் சிருஷ்டியானாலும் நம்முடைய கர்த்தராகிய கிறிஸ்து இயேசுவிலுள்ள தேவனுடைய அன்பைவிட்டு நம்மைப் பிரிக்கமாட்டாதென்று நிச்சயித்திருக்கிறேன். அதிகாரம்

   For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

7. நான் உங்களில் அன்பாயிருக்கிறதுபோல நீங்களும் ஒருவரிலொருவர் அன்பாயிருக்கவேண்டுமென்பதே என்னுடைய கற்பனையாயிருக்கிறது. ஒருவன் தன் சிநேகிதருக்காகத் தன் ஜீவனைக் கொடுக்கிற அன்பிலும் அதிகமான அன்பு ஒருவரிடத்திலுமில்லை.

   This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

8. பூர்வகாலமுதல் கர்த்தர் எனக்குத் தரிசனையானார் என்பாய்; ஆம் அநாதிசிநேகத்தால் உன்னைச் சிநேகித்தேன்; ஆதலால் காருணியத்தால் உன்னை இழுத்துக்கொள்ளுகிறேன்.

   The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, [saying], Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.

9. இப்பொழுது விசுவாசம், நம்பிக்கை, அன்பு இம்மூன்றும் நிலைத்திருக்கிறது; இவைகளில் அன்பே பெரியது. அதிகாரம்

   And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these [is] charity.

10. எல்லாவற்றிற்கும் மேலாக ஒருவரிலொருவர் ஊக்கமான அன்புள்ளவர்களாயிருங்கள்; அன்பு திரளான பாவங்களை மூடும்.

    And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

11. உன் தேவனாகிய கர்த்தர் உன் நடுவில் இருக்கிறார்; அவர் வல்லமையுள்ளவர், அவர் இரட்சிப்பார்; அவர் உன்பேரில் சந்தோஷமாய் மகிழ்ந்து, தம்முடைய அன்பினிமித்தம் அமர்ந்திருப்பார்; அவர் உன்பேரில் கெம்பீரமாய்க் களிகூருவார்.

    The LORD thy God in the midst of thee [is] mighty; he will save, he will rejoice over thee with joy; he will rest in his love, he will joy over thee with singing.

12. விசுவாசத்தினாலே கிறிஸ்து உங்கள் இருதயங்களில் வாசமாயிருக்கவும், நீங்கள் அன்பிலே வேரூன்றி, நிலைபெற்றவர்களாகி, சகல பரிசுத்தவான்களோடுங்கூடக் கிறிஸ்துவினுடைய அன்பின் அகலமும், நீளமும், ஆழமும், உயரமும் இன்னதென்று உணர்ந்து; அறிவுக்கெட்டாத அந்த அன்பை அறிந்துகொள்ள வல்லவர்களாகவும், தேவனுடைய சகலபரிபூரணத்தாலும்நிறையப்படவும், அவர் தமது மகிமையினுடைய ஐசுவரியத்தின்படியே, உங்களுக்கு அநுக்கிரகம் பண்ணவேண்டுமென்று வேண்டிக்கொள்ளுகிறேன்.

    That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what [is] the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
